NBA revenues 2009/10 - approx. 4 billion
NHL revenues 2009/10 - approx. 3 billion

Crazy that with international jersey sales and massive tv contracts (and stations like ESPN covering basketball at a 25-to-1 ratio to hockey) that the revenues are only 1b apart.

It's about exposure and TV revenues. Until the NHL gets a decent TV contract in the US it will not change.

It's ironic that NHL ratings are closing the gap on NBA ratings but network's like ESPN ignore them. Maybe they will wake up soon.
