To a certain point. You still need 7-8 deep to be a great team IMO. A team with MJ doesn't automatically win, the pieces around him still have to fit.
No, but MJ won basically 6 straight with a whole team full of great role players. Pippin was a versatile defender/scorer, Roman was a great rebounder/defender, then they had a lot of different guys that could shoot wide open 3's and scrub centers that contributed 6 fouls each....fit together around MJ perfectly

Agreed. Those with the most All Stars aren't always those who fit the team needs best.

Yeah his Robin, Pippen. Rodman, the dirty work guy. Then role players... rebounders and ton of shooters. But Pippen was not like anyone and he won all of his titles with him, great defender, good scorer---good all-around player. It took a special Detroit team to knock off the Bulls before they won their titles. Their team just fit though, every player had their job.

Nobody feels more strongly about not changing
Agreed. Those with the most All Stars aren't always those who fit the team needs best.

In fact, I might even argue that you don't want allstar caliber players in spots 8-10. At least on a real team anyway. Those guys need to be okay with a minor role.

I got crucified on the NBA thread for calling Rodman a role player. People thought it somehow diminished his accomplishments. He did 2 very specific things, but he did them better than anybody.

Anyone who thinks that Rodman was anything other than a role player is mistaken. He may be the ultimate role player, but he was a role player nonetheless (his entire career).

I agree, but it depends on the players, we don't know how some of these players will react to minor roles. In these drafts, the more talent the better, BUT how the team fits is just as important. I wouldn't worry about having too much talent at the end of the bench, in these drafts it can help bc if you possibly need to you can start another guy in a different matchup.

I saw MJ lose with an alltime great player and some "others" which is why I looked for players that fit that were Allstars... You never know what people will vote for, however once it was agreed we could trade cap space it became a game changer IMO... Anyway, let's move on... Am I up yet...? :noidea:

Yeah that was pretty huge. You essentially go MJ for 21 mil but also gave up your 2nd. Is it my turn yet...again lol

You are 100% correct, a great role player. He helped make really good teams great. I thought he was a perfect fit with the Bulls, rebounding and defending was all they needed from him, but I thought where he was really great was in Detroit, his energy and defense were awesome there
