Washington in another close win.

Their o-line will do enough to slightly slow down Michigan's d-line to give Penix time to make some plays. Probably another final 4 minute drive to eek out a W.

Michigan is not going to win a shootout. They will need to rely on defense. They need to slow the game down and keep the Washington offense off the field. They will try to play hall control offense and eat time.

College football isn’t like the NFL. A college team can win by having a great offense, but a defense which makes occasional stops or big plays.
What makes you think 42-24 is a shootout?

If UM defense gets turnovers or say converts a few TD's that leave the offense with 28 points, that's not a shoot-out.
I think Michigan's defense will get a few turnovers that will turn into 7 for UM offense,
I also think UM is that much better to get those 42 where UW can't.

Michigan is not going win a shootout. I’m not sure why that comment is so difficult to understand.

UM put up 42 against weak B10 teams. None of those teams has the offense to match those points but Washington can.

Has anyone looked up to see what the top defense rankings that UW has faced this year?

Michigan's strength is definitely its defense and run/clock management offense.
Which I think this is a much lower score somewhere 27-24 type game. If by someway it does turn into a shootout, Washington is capable of dropping 42.

it looks like the top defenses that UW played were Oregon, Oregon State, and Utah. While UW is capable of running up the score, I just don't see Michigan allowing them to have enough clock to do so. Michigan beat Penn State without throwing a single pass in the second half of that game. If UW can't stop the run, this game could get very boring.

Didn;t suggest or say it would be a shootout now did I?
You can score 42 points without a shootout, why is that so hard to understand?

In fairness, PSU doesn't have a QB. Their OC either refused to let him pass deep or the kid was too afraid to make that type of pass and go consistently to check downs. I'm not saying Huskies can drop 42 in an instant but they can score quick. This Michigan team hasn't seen this type of offense and on the flip side Washington hasn't seen this type of defense.

Both teams scoring over 40 would qualify as a shootout. Michigan is not going onieep with that kind of scoring.

Yeah I was just doing the flip side for Michigan. They didn't play top offenses either this year. According to SP+, Alabama was the top offense at #11. OSU and Penn State were #30, and #33.

Look I admire your loyalty but 40 pts doesn't mean a shootout occurred. If the defense scores 14 of those 40 points it's not a shootout from an offensive mindset. If a team is constantly at the opposition's 25 after turnover exchange and scores those 40 pts may only have had 200 yards of offense, that's not a shootout.
Ball position has everything to do with it
You're only looking at it through the offense.not yardage or picks which can create points

I think the game plan for Michigan will be to keep Washington's offense off the field. They will use the big O-Line and just run it down their throats, chewing up the clock.

I think it will be a relatively low scoring game. I'll say 31-21 in Michigan's favor. I think Michigan will be in control for most the game. Now that I just made that prediction, Washington can start plans for their championship parade. :L

Been awhile since we’ve had a terrorist attack, so hoping for that to cancel this morally bankrupt game

Some interesting tidbits for UW and Michigan!

First, they both played away games at Michigan State and had similar final scores (49-0 for Michigan, and 41-7 for UW).

According to SP+ rankings, UW played a lot of crappy defenses and Michigan played a lot of crappy offenses which might inflate both of their standings as the best offense and defense, respectively.

Michigan played eight games against teams ranked 70th or worse for offense (124, 95, 97, 123, 103, 105, 122, 90).
Michigan's other five games before Alabama: (32, 30, 56, 33, 67)
Alabama was ranked 11th best offense.

UW played seven games against teams ranked 70th or worse for defense (82, 118, 84, 89, 115, 105, 75).
UW's other six games before Texas: (45, 40, 16x2, 24, 35)
Texas was ranked 11th best offense.

Michigan is ranked with the #1 defense, and UW is ranked with the #4 offense.

My prediction: Michigan 34, UW 29

I just hope both teams have fun, everyone gets to play, and juice boxes are given out to the winners and losers.

Coach says Dillon Johnson expected to play....
But effectively? I see it being he comes out for a couple plays, can't go and that's his night. Very least that was a high ankle sprain
