I hate to beat a dead horse and be a UNC apologist.
But, I dont think there is any conclusive proof he is touching the ball.

His left hand is extended. You can actually see his fingertips under the stomach of the player.
At the angle, it would require a circus freak mutant arm twice as long to wrap around and touch the ball.

So unless his SHIN is grazing the ball, only the Gonzaga player is touching it right now.
It appears that the left forearm of the Gonzaga player is preventing that SHIN contact as well.

He immediately lifted both hands up and grabbed the ball with two hands a nano-second after this freeze frame.

In real time it looks even more in doubt.

I am very proud of my gonzaga bull dogs and head coach mark few. Unlike all the big programs we do not have the luxury of having first picks at the top rated high school players and we do not play at a high class location in spokane washington. None of the gonzaga players for the most part are NBA primed players. To me it just says a lot about a coach that can manage to put together a competitive team year after year full of players ranging from places like Canada, Poland and Japan. Whether or not we can make it back to the finals I promise you Gonzaga will be a competitive team next year

I don't think there was intent to make UNC win. I do think though that they called the game too tight. If Karnowski hits a few more shots then the Bulldogs win. I would have liked to have seen what Collins could have done with more time in the game. Congratulations UNC.

They didn't just call it too tight, they ruined the game. There's almost no point in watching until there's 2 minutes left because refs take over the game whenever it looks like one team is pulling away. Basketball almost feels like it's fixed anymore these days.

Look at the scores of these games. Teams within a point or two of each other for basically the entire game..?? Anytime one team looks like they might pull away, the refs stall out the game with BS calls.

Last night's game was just one example. The UK/UNC game might have even been worse. So many bad calls in that one that John Higgins is getting death threats over it. One of the only reasons to watch CBB is to see a fast paced game full of action. Kind of hard to see that when refs won't let the kids play. Not sure if I answered your question or not, but while I don't think the refs are fixing it for one team, there are working HARD to make sure these big games go right down to the wire... at least that's how it appears to me.

As a unc fan, don't you think you're just a little bit biased? We had the same shit happen at OSU under Jim Obrien. He supposedly 'loaned' money to boban savovic and had tutors turning in work for him. We got 3 years probation and lost credit for our trip to the final four. So yeah.. I wouldn't mind seeing unc get what they deserve as well.

Where is your proof to back your claim up that refs were working hard to make big games go down to the wire? There was shitty officiating all Tourney long this year. Not just the big time match ups.

The proof is in watching the games. What fun is it to have a big time match up only to watch the refs continuously stop the action and put half the players in foul trouble. Just look back at the final four games. Any time either team in either game would get any sort of momentum, the refs would reel them back in.

Well if you have such an issue w/ the lousy officiating next year I suggest you watch curling instead of The Tourney.
