Red Tails or Red Clouds is a non starter for me. If they can keep the colors and somehow keep the logo, I'm good.

Reconfiguring the arrow design into one that's unrelated to Native American types and rebranding the team name to "Warhawks" would work. There would necessarily have to be small changes to the song too!
(Braves on the warpath = team on a war path for example) Everything else can stay the same including colors. Outside of that, if there's a will to keep the Native American motif he could rebrand the team with an actual tribe name with their blessing.

For those concerned with the song, try it... "Warhawks" vs some others listed here.

One more suggestion with "Warhawks" in mind, take a look at the left talon on the bird of the great seal of the U.S. with respect to arrow redesign.

I am a local and this is more of a last straw deal for me.

This has been a very hard team to root for ... for the past 29 years. There is very little about Snyder to like. He might have had me if he had let Marty finish the job .... but then there was Vinny only to be followed by Bruce. They never seemed to treat the players that should have been taken care of right. They screwed with the Shanahan's and let a potential great coach go in Kyle. Only to be followed by McVay and LaFleur.

The name change is expected. We think we are expunging or cleansing our history but you cannot change history. Question for the those interested, who is Tony Timpa and what happened to him?

The past two years I have been watching more Vikings than Redskins. With Cousins signing an extension that will continue as well as watching San Fran, LA and Green Bay.

Who is going to sing Hail to the Warriors ... Braves etc.? HTTW man!!

Tony Timpa was a white dude with schizophrenia. He called the police on himself asking for help because he forgot his medication. They proceeded to hold him down with a knee to the neck, while mocking him, until he died. Interestingly enough, there was almost no disciplinary action against the police at all, with no public outrage.

Interestingly enough, there was almost no disciplinary action against the police at all, with no public outrage.

After he died with the cop on top of him ala George Floyd they thought he had fallen asleep and made jokes about his mommy being mad because he overslept. As they were loading him on the gurney the cop who had been kneeling on him said "wow, hope I didn't kill him." The case was actually buried by the Dallas police until a judge forced the cops to release of the body cam film in 2019. At that, still no movement, can't blame the press … they did report the story after the judge released it. Just no outcry for justice. I don't think you can say you are racist if you are white because we are privileged or so I am told. Before that I was guilty of being an older white male. This is the labeling that is running rampant in this country. Twice as many unarmed white people were killed in a year as black people. BLM would not have you think that.

I really try to stay away from politics and social issues on here. Three of my four grandparents lived at least some of their childhood in orphanages. So when someone tells me "white privilege" I am going to tell them to fuck off because they know nothing about me. I am not making any excuses. I am just telling you I am tired of this shit. One of my niece's white father/black mother recently talked about being bi-racial and how she was not accepted fully in either culture. Racism exists and it is not going to go away. Changing names of forts, football teams, schools etc. isn't going to change a damn thing. That has to happen inside each and everyone of us.

Good job gk. Don't know if you knew who Tony Timpa was or Googled him and don't care. It is as much history as George Floyd is and should be remembered also.

is police brutality a power hungry issue or is it solely about race ? . the data, the only measure we have suggest its not about race as the press and others would have you believe

the phrase BLM is a worthy one very worthy , the organization however is run by trained marxists and if you read their mission statement you will see it advocates the dissolving of the nuclear family and children are to be raised in a communal environment . that is flat out communism and if anyone thinks there will be social justice under that banner you are sadly mistaken

if you dont want to take my word for it take marcellis wiley's word for it . he is one of the few sports journalist who actually investigated it

so when the NFL comes out in support of this i am disappointed in it to say the least because its cowardice and its bowing down to the mob

so when colin kaepernick takes his stand wearing a Fidel Castro shirt you know what this is really about . he isnt a hero at all , he is an elitist now and when this change comes he wont be affected by it because he is in fact the top 5% . he will be a part of the puppet master class while you and i , no matter what race will be the puppets

yes i went political but this thread can be moved to the politcs thread easily

From what little I read about what Rivera said, honoring our past and military. I am hopeful the name will be Warriors.

Probably not a full divorce. You can hardly give 57 years of your life to something and not still have some feelings. This is not a big step for me. I have been following the Vikings for two years now. Also have been following the 49ers because I was a big believer in Kyle when he was here. Just another one of Dan's screwups whether you blame it on Dan or Bruce.

I'll be around some. There are people I have come to like over the years. Hell a lot of the ones who said they were leaving are still lurking.

I am not putting another dime into this teams merchandise if they change the name and I will be sitting at the local bar watching the Vikings if they aren't on here. I have been doing that for two years already.

The funny thing is I am not blind to the persecution of native americans. I read several books in HS that made me angry about how we treated the indigenous people. I have supported some of their causes over the years because of how I feel. The logo on the side of the helmet is something that is honorable to ME. Oh well, it is out of my hands.

Backatcha chill. Here's the thing, you do not get to make my decisions or tell me what to think and are not entitled to so enjoy your Warrior Braves. HTTW!

Nobody’s trying to tell you anything, Karen. Settle down.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, though.

If you are so put off by the inevitable than you go right ahead any bury your head in the sand.

Have at it!

See I struggle with this too . I can get behind warriors / braves or a name that links to our history but a total rebrand with Snyder as the owner I am certain I cannot . And even warriors / braves gives me a bit of disappointment although I would give it a go . Does Gary Clark or Joe Jacoby make the HOF now with lessened support ? What about Sean Taylor ? Is he remembered in 5-10 yrs like Sammy Baugh was by a new generation with a team called red tails ? The wizards aren’t the bullets . Ask a young wizards fan about Bobby Dandridge ? Would he know anything about him ? The big E? Gus Williams ? People know riggo, sonny , billy but Willa renegade know them ? That is where I come from

i will say another thing , my computer links twitter feeds and such and who i follow could undergo a huge change depending on how this name change goes .

this board will be totally different as well as i will make sweeping changes depending on how it goes

we will need a new banner , some threads will be discarded, some rules will be changed (in fact a lot of them )

in will become a defacto expansion team board

so if we get a rebrand i will need some ideas for a new banner or if we get something like the warriors or braves or seminoles or warpath i will need input . i will have to find out if someone can make us a new banner as well

so be ready to vote
