I imagine owners/the NFL would have to sign off on a name change. "War" probably wouldn't be in the new name. "Hogs" is gross, regardless of the context. "Redtails" ain't bad.

My idea, if you wanna get unique, just call the team "DC". Not the DC _______, just "DC".

Natives was my first choice, followed by Braves and Warriors. They have to keep the colors or we are basically an expansion team.

i cover everything redskins from every video / tweet . story , i can find . i believe it stimulates conversation .

i wonder how game day threads will be and who will actually be here for it . i cant see myself being that devoted if its totally erased and it looks like an expansion team

how many of you are up for the cowboys vs the redtail /redhawks / federal /indepedents / senators /capitols /nationals / generals / any other rebrand name ?

i know i wont and others here will feel the same

locals to the DC area here will probably swallow a rebrand and root for the "home " team but my experience with the bullets to wizards fiasco tell me people who moved away from the area have no link to a defacto expansion team

sorry but i dont care how you slice it or sell it the wizards arent the bullets . the bullets history is in the scrap heap of broken dreams now just like the redskins history will if you trot out stupid ass redtails or the other rebrands

If we go to the Warriors and keep the logo and colors that would be the easiest transition. If they want to play it safe as far as the logo goes we could always go back the the spear helmets from 65-69. Actually what about the Washington Seminoles with the spear helmet?

IMO the right thing to do - from Snyder’s perspective - might be to rebrand the team to refect the make up of the city it represents.

Redtails might be less manly than RedHawks, but both would be excellent choices to honor the Tuskegee Airmen in a predominantly black city.

Talk about erasing some/a lot/ all of the bad juju surrounding this team in one fell swoop.

If The Danny insists on keeing it native American themed, then Warriors is a good way to go. It’s a half-assed move that clearly illustrates that the only reason The Danny changed his mind is financial, which is probably true anyway, but it’ll at least be palpitable to thise who are strangely connected to the word “Redskins” and the loveliness of the burgandy and gold.

I am a local and this is more of a last straw deal for me.

This has been a very hard team to root for ... for the past 29 years. There is very little about Snyder to like. He might have had me if he had let Marty finish the job .... but then there was Vinny only to be followed by Bruce. They never seemed to treat the players that should have been taken care of right. They screwed with the Shanahan's and let a potential great coach go in Kyle. Only to be followed by McVay and LaFleur.

The name change is expected. We think we are expunging or cleansing our history but you cannot change history. Question for the those interested, who is Tony Timpa and what happened to him?

The past two years I have been watching more Vikings than Redskins. With Cousins signing an extension that will continue as well as watching San Fran, LA and Green Bay.

Who is going to sing Hail to the Warriors ... Braves etc.? HTTW man!!

Honestly, the name change won’t run me away unless it’s something faggish like the Redtails. I really think all the negative press and bad ref calls have been due to the name. It’s fucking pitiful, but that’s what this world has came to. I like the direction this team is heading, if they can come up with a respectable name the media would come back on their side. It’s really pathetic it’s came to this. The redskins name is what’s kept me so die hard.
