I'm not sure if Gruden is a HC in this league, but he deserves at least 3 seasons...if they bottom out to the degree that you can secure one of the taller ceiling rookies at QB...whatta you do?
I don't think any of us really know about Gruden. I sure have my questions, but agree that he deserves another year. If I truly believe that KC is starter material in this league and just needs more seasoning, I pass on using my first pick on a QB and fill other holes that I have. Really, I am not sold on any of the QBs in this draft as can't miss prospects so I would probably use a mid round pick to take a QB and see if I can groom him as KCs replacement in a few years.

Lets just say Kirk continues his current level of play which right now falls into the middle of the pack, yet we lose out ( which is entirely possible) and end up with a top ten pick. Are we better served as a TEAM, drafting yet ANOTHER QB, who might be cheaper, but also guarantees another 2-3 years of rebuilding. OR sticking with Kirk and using that top ten pick on say, a Pass Rusher, DB, or WR taller than your average 5th grader??

Probably better off taking the QB. At least as far as process goes since we dont know who that QB would be.

ehb, you are no confidence in our team. The schedule gets a hell of a lot easier for the final 6 games. This defense better wake up.

You dont think this team has any chance of going 2-4 or 1-5 the rest of the year?
There absolutely is. But KC could still play well and they not win. With no running attack and no way to stop the others team from running, this is a real possibility of them losing out or just winning 1 or 2 more.

Again... who is to determine what over paying is?? If the going rate for a starting QB is $17 million, and Kirk is our starter... some one is going to pay him. Do you start over because you want to quibble over the contract?? I agree if we were paying Cousins and he performed like a 3rd stringer. But I think Cousins is a bit better than that.

Yes. If somebody hands him 17 mil a year you tell him good luck and walk away.

Its not about confidence its about being realistic. Sure this team could go 4-2. but if you think 2-4 or worse is out of the question you havent been paying any attention to anything this year.

Wow. You really do dislike him. So who do you put in at QB?

Oh absolutely. I was just pointing out we could still have atop 10 pick regardless of the reason.

Because I dont want to pay low level QB 17 mil a year?? Cmon. Play Colt, draft somebody, sign a veteran. DONT throw money at a meh quarterback.

Thing is, you have a pretty well known bias against Kirk. So short of him taking us to a Super Bowl, I think you would be for getting rid of him.

Or you have a pretty well known bias for him and short of him literally turning into Robert Griffin himself wont want to move on.

And that's the point. You've already labeled him as a meh QB. No chance in your mind he plays well the rest of the season. In fact, you don't think he has played even mediocre to date. No matter the stats that tell a different story, no matter that he has twice been offensive player of the week. It appears to some of us that your mind was made up on him before the first game and there is no changing it.

If he turns into Robert Griffin.. we are fucked. I want a QB, not a Hurdler trying to be a QB... but thats just me.

Most of these guys get 5 yr deals and if you're trending up after 3, you keep them if not, you make a change.

Say if WAS is picking 9th...Me...If there's a plug and play talent at another position...especially one of need...I might take that player over the QB. Otherwise I would take the young QB. I'm not sure if Cousins is going to be much better than a 9-7 kind of starter...whereas I look at Bortles, Carr, maybe Bridgewater with higher potential.
