Coach, its great to see your English is really coming around. Keep up the hard work and there could be lucrative speaking engagements in your future.......

I like how his take on the Pitt game extended to 3 games and 5 weeks of the season. If we're poop for that long. We won't even notice the stench anymore by week 3.

Not a good start, but Redskins aren't a top 10 team so losing to Steelers was no surprise. Cousins looked bad, he needs to improve, I'll give him a the whole year before judging his worth to the Redskins in the future.

I'm still a Breeland fan but this does nothing to change my opinion. On the 4th down TD he was there but for some reason slowed at the last instant and failed to read the ball and make a play on it. On the second Barry admitted he got beat.
they were close. its not like brown had a 5 yard seperation. i think breeland has a bounce back game.

Not trying to be a dickhead here, but what was so interesting about it? Or maybe a better question would be. Why did Josh Norman get 75 mill dollars with 50 mill guaranteed to play CB for the Redskins. If it's possible that he may only face an opposing team's best WR 2 times a game?
if he's all over the field with the teams number one it fucks up play calls and defenders get out of position elsewhere. it telegraphs to an offense what you are doing on defense. you honestly think deion sanders and Aeneas Williams were shadowing #1 WR all over the field all day every sunday?

Well after Monday, Breeland has a target the size of an Imperial Space Station on his chest.

Dallas is going to test him early and often. And if Joe Barry leaves him one on one against Bryant, he better step up.... our its going to get ugly. things in his favor are, Dez is not as fast or elusive as AB. Dez is not as mentally stable as AB. And Prescott is no where near as polished as AB.

If we can stand up in man coverage against Dallas, and our front seven can contain the Cowboys ground game at least a little... we might have a chance this week.

Side note... it would be nice to see our first round pick atleast dressed for the game.

I will say it again. Breeland getting torched by AB wasnt on Norman. It was on Barry, and our pathetic D-line. If we had a snowballs chance in hell of getting a pass rush on Big Ben, and could even slow down their ground game in the second half... maybe we could I dont know, give Breeland a little help after the first TD??

You honestly think Deion was covering Jerry Rice for a total of 2 plays a game when their teams faced off particularly if Rice was goin off?

You and Barry can say what you want. The fact is, the defensive schemes Barry was running were not working and he did nothing in terms of adjustments.

no arguments here. no pass rush, corners are asked to cover more. corners have maybe 3-4 secs of good coverage. after that someone is going to get open. this isn't college ball.

where did I say that?

do i think Barry should have made some adjustments and maybe had norman freelance a bit? i could get down with that. somwhere in the middle.

problem is that deion had the reputation of shutting down one half of the field back in his prime but the rules were different then and the defenses could be more physical even after 5 yards. it is what is man. breeland is going to have to step up his game and same with our D-line. no other choice.

Though I understand the logic of shutdown corners shutting down one side of the field, that is really only an employable strategy if you have confidence that:

a) the opposite cb is pretty damn good - or at least can hold his own
b) the opposite cb is average, but the safeties on your team are pretty damn good (seattle)
c) you have a fearsome pass rush that will limit the amount of time the qb has to look for mismatches on the other side of the field.

the redskins have none of the above. Breeland might be good, but he sure as hell wasn't on Monday, and the fact that Barry did NOTHING to adjust after the skins were losing at the half is pathetic.

Pitchers that are getting shelled get pulled. Barry should have devised a plan to eliminate AB as a weapon - shadowing Norman on AB, and have the rookie wr's and the old rb beat his defense.

It's like Football 101.

Yeah, somewhere in the middle far as Norman taking #1 WRs

I think BB will be just fine. Not near as confident when it comes to the DL, and if I'm not mistaken. At present Josh Norman is the highest paid CB in the NFL and I'd hazard a guess the Skins highest paid defensive player. Its not really a question of Norman having to step up. Its more a question of putting him in position to show he's worthy of being paid as he is. Norman certainly isn't shying away from it as when he was in Europe and hanging out with some soccer players. One of them ask him if he was the best CB in football. He said, Nah, I'm the best CB on earth.

Give him the opportunity to prove it.

the only position that is, is telling him to cover the number 1 wideout wherever he is and that pretty much gives away all of your coverages on defense. Most good OC's will light that shit on fire.

Most good defenses could afford to leave Norman on one side and IF they needed to give the #2 CB some help could do it without suffering.

Face it, we have NOT had a good Defensive front seven since what the 80's?? We put 8 in the box more often than not Monday night and couldn't stop Hillary Clinton from gaining 100 yards rushing. I think Scherff over Williams was a good call. Ignoring the defensive line this year..... Dumb as fork.

Had we added two good D-lineman in FA with Norman... we might have something. But considering the only things we added to our D-line were Reyes and Ioannidis and an un-drafted FA......... Questionable if you are being kind.

Crazy idea...if Norman is on one side and you have an elite WR consistently lining up against Breeland...how about giving Breeland a little safety assistance and let Norman take his guy without help? Crazy, I know.

Hilary could do that against any defense though. She would have paid killers making it look like suicides with gun shots to the back of the head. Or at least that is how the media would spin it.

Cant do that when you need to put eight in the box in order to only give up 5-7 yards a carry. In order to give Breeland any kind of realistic safety help, we have got to be able to generate a decent pass rush AND stop the rush with only our front seven.... and we cant do that.

If we hold Dallas to 340 yards rushing Sunday I will be shocked. BUt I also think if we hold them to under 300 rushing, we get torched in the passing game.

The game plan for Dallas SHOULD be:

Norman on Bryant.
Everybody up near the line.
Make Prescott throw it deep to beat you.

That's what the giants did last week to win the game. That's what the Redskins should do.
Beasley and Witten were the target for 22 of Prescott's passes (11 each). He didn't complete anything over 20 yards, and checked down as soon as he saw his first read was covered.

Of course, Barry will probably play Norman off the line, fearing the deep ball, keep Norman on one side, drop seven into coverage, and give a qb who has NOT shown that he can throw it deep plenty of time to work crossing patterns to Witten and Beasley underneath. Then there'll be no adjustments at halftime. Then, when it's time for catchup, Barry will finally start blitzing, which will cause breakdowns in coverage, which will allow Prescott to throw it into the flats, which will cause the redskins to lose.
