Fair enough, I too watched game film of him and came away with the Favre comparison. So we agree to disagree, I will do a bit of research on Peterman and get back to you with my assessment.
As far as Gruden is concerned, wasn't he supposed to be a QB whisperer while in Cincy and sold as that in getting his job here?....Oh hell, wait, Bruce Allen was pushing that shit. As the late great Hilda Radner would say........"Never mind!"![]()
Sty talk about football and not BS. Gruden teaches/has a pro style offense why is that so hard to understand. Griffin couldn't run it because he could not make the quick decisions involved. You can't turn horse shit in to apple pie. The question is can you turn Mahomes into a pro style QB. I am not a pro coach so I hesitate to say you can't. What I can say is he shows none of those instincts now.
You initially said he is an outstanding prospect. I asked why? Your answer:
"I'm a firm believer in getting a backup that more closely favors the starter, if that is Kirk, he reminds me of Kirk just a very raw, not yet ready for prime time version with a stronger arm, better accuracy, better wheels and a far greater upside."
So he resembles Cousins in NO way. He is an option QB or that is what he was in school. Scouting reports say he does not read offenses well, have to give Cousins the edge there. Better accuracy? His stats are a little lower. Better arm and better wheels. I agree.
If you like him that is fine. Neither one of us are pro scouts. I am leary of spread offense QBs. I prefer kids that played in a pro style offense. Call them system QBs if you like. Really I am not in love with any QBs this year. I agree with Shark that the kid Darnold looks like he has IT. But he has only played on year in college.
