Yes, why not give Raheem a shot? He is coaching a position within Haslett's proven failed system. It has failed here and everywhere else he has been. Different players and different position coaches didn't make a difference....it's always failed. Raheem isn't calling the plays, not even for his defensive backs. Give him a shot. How do you get worse than the worst defense in the nfl?

The Skins were 10th in the league in defense in 2009 gkekoa. Look it up. 319.7 ypg given up.

so let me get this straight , you guys advocate going back to the 4-3 and make Rak and kerrigan des?

and you think rob jackson is more "dependable "

and you know without a doubt that rak will ask for "clay mathews " money ?

let me tell you , switching back to the 4-3 will set us back another 2 years

get past the rak and kerrigan are "des" BS and understand that both are have been pro bowl OLBs

in fact Rak has never played DE as a pro and i doubt he magically gets that elusive counter move just because he puts a hand in the dirt

what we need is better players in the scheme at key positions we need a young sideline to sideline ILB such as a skov from stanford . a smart kid who can run a defense

next we need 2 cbs . both tall and fast . guys that are physical

we need a difference maker at the safety position . doughty and merriweather are stop gaps . thomas and rambo could be the future but we need a byrd type guy back there

on defense we need a couple of DE's who can collapse the pocket and hold the edge . carriker is done , jenkins is a BU . bowen is too .

next we need a reliable punter and some returners at PR and KR

you gripe about the offense but truth be told our offense is fine as long as Rg3 is healthy and growing . i would attack that side of the ball last

we get solid players on defense and then the scheme will work

Oline has to be the top priority, IMO. The interior is getting owned weekly. And if we don't protect our QB with scheme or continue to fail to keep a mobile pocket when we are obviously passing, we are well and truly screwed. We go nowhere without a healthy QB in the future.

i doubt we have the resources to replace 3 interior o/line guys and a RT

and think about this for a moment . 2 years running we are 5th in the NFL in offense with this o/line .

however if you feel that the o/line rates above the defense at this time then i cant fight you too hard

i just think we can remake the defense this year with the cap and work on the o/line in the 2015 draft when we have a 1st rounder

if you go your route then you will be keeping Rak at the franchise tag , resigning hall for 2x what we are paying him . barnett could be the ILB and merriweather and doughty will be back as our safety tandem

whichever way we go ( and both are right ) we will have to make do with what we have on one side of the ball

My frustration is primarily how we use our Oline in obvious passing situations. That has to change, be it by scheme or personnel.

I do agree that it is critical to also address the Defensive weaknesses and STs. If we're lucky, Crawford will return healthy and so will Phillip Thomas and play well. Also, Rambo and Amerson will hopefully continue to grow and develop. Middle LB has to be addressed obviously, much as I love London. Anyone know anything about Keenan Robinson? Or as you said, see what Barnett gives us. Something has to start happening with our pass rush. I like Orakpo and Kerrigan. Don't understand why they can't seem to produce more pressure this season. It's a mystery to me.

How did New Orleans go from last in defense in 2012 to 5th so far this year? The answer to that should give you a good hint as to why we stay at or near the bottom in defense since 2010.

At the end of this season, if our D has made no improvement, then I agree, Haz has to go.

I understand that is fair, but after last night, I wanted Snyder to tell him to get the F%#* off the plane and give him a Greyhound ticket to anywhere but DC. I do believe unless we show signicant improvement on defense, emphasizing significant, I do not think he will be back. My bet is on he doesn't make the year.

I can certainly understand that sentiment! But in fairness, it hasn't been all bad, all the time. The problem is the inconsistency. Soooooooo frustrating.

That was the worst oline that we are going to see all year. only one sack from rak and Kerrigan. cmon. he is not making the impact at all this year. Rob Jackson had a bigger impact last year. Its the truth.

100% correct. Skins (Orakpo and Kerrigan) should have been able to dominate those two tackles. Very poor play on both parts.

It was a very disappointing game from our front 7. I'm sure that the scheme had something to do with it. Our primary focus was to stop Peterson. This means that you can't pin you ears back and go after the QB, you have to wait and make sure Adrian doesn't have the ball and isn't running to your side. Basically, we said that we were going to make Ponder beat us. We actually executed on our strategy, unfortunately Ponder played well with no pressure on him. He didn't do anything special, but he extended some key plays and hit open receivers to keep drives alive.

I expect we are going to see more of Jackson and Jenkins in the final 7 games to see what they can do. We are very close to evaluation mode, one more loss and we will officially be there. We know what Rak can do. We need to see what our defense can be like with Jackson and Jenkins taking snaps. That will determine how we deal with the re-signing of Rak this offseason.

I also expect that we may see Gettis and Compton getting some snaps on offense. We need to see if these guys can step up as potential replacements to Polumbus and Chester.

on 3rd and long Peterson wasn't an option and they still couldn't get to the QB. They had a busted coverage when Riley is covering a WR. Cmon. Stupid mistakes.

Rak has played better this year. Still gets lost in pass coverage. He's a DE. Depends on what he ask for.

Rak and Kerrigan should NEVER be in pass coverage, its not a strong suit nor should it be. We need to either hire a whole new staff (Gruden is a 4-3 guy) or hire a new DC with a 4-3 background which suits our personnel.

Mistake Dean? This wasn't a mistake my friend. Haslett's scheme on this play required Riley to cover Simpson unfortunately. We blitzed a DB on the backside and didn't get to the QB which left Riley on Simpson.

My question is, why not blitz Riley and leave the DB in man coverage on a WR? This is the case far too often this season. Haslett trying to be sneaky and not bring the obvious blitzer in Riley to disguise things a bit and it back fired. We struggle getting off the field on 3rd downs.

there is no way you are going to sit kerrigan and Rak to see if jackson and jenkins can take over

Rak is our best option at OLB . jackson , as shown last season , doesnt make people focus on him like Rak does . jenkins cant get on the field

you are focussing on areas we dont need to worry about about defense . we need 2-3 new players in the secondary , preferably tall and physical with good speed , a new sideline to sideline ILB and some de's that can hold the edge and get push

i like jackson and i like jenkins and they can provide a strong rotation at OLB but i dont get why people are so hell bent on weakening one position to get better at another when you dont have too

and right now we shouldnt be in throwing in the towell mode with us not being eliminated when we are then we can see

As i said, if we lose one more game, you will see Rak not playing as much. We have to evaluate the talent we have so we can determine what we do with Rak. We know what we have in him. We don't know what kind of drop off we get if we go with Jackson and Jenkins, if any. We need to know that. This doesn't mean that Rak doesn't start or that he doesn't play the majority of snaps. What it means is that we use some of our young talent to evaluate them so we can prioritize our off season acquisitions.
