1. Start season 1 week earlier. This is to avoid pushing into semester finals for the student athletes later on, you will see why.

2. Start camp 1 week earlier to accommodate #1.

3. Hold conference championships 1 week earlier, should land in November most of the time.

4. Hold first round of 12 team playoffs on the first or second Saturday of December, should land on the 1st Saturday most years. Format below...

-6 conference champions seeded 1-6
-6 at large bids seeded 7-12
-Homefield advantage to top seeds

5. Begin "bowl season" in late December after semester finals.

6. Create a true "Bowl Cup" format to build significance of non-playoff bowls. Include reward system for winning schools/conferences beyond just the trophies.

7. Quarter finals, played as bowl games on neutral fields, hosted by BCS bowls. Top 2 remaining teams get a bye week, 4 teams play for right to make semi-finals.

8. Semi-Finals, part of New Years Day bowl lineup, again, BCS bowls.

9. Championship game....held 1 full week from New Years Day, again, played on neutral field.

:thumb:

I think this would work.

Next on the list....

1. Enforce a higher GPA requirement
2. Allow players released from a program to immediately transfer to another school, even if they have not graduated.
3. Only green turf.

Some more...

1. Include each year of participation in a NCAA sanctioned sport as a full semester credit course. They put in a lot of work, and are preparing for a profession...it's up to the NFL to hire them...but they are still being prepared for a profession.

2. $3,000 for living costs is acceptable, considering the time they have to put into their sport instead of taking on a job.

You can't start the season a week earlier because the kids aren't back in school yet. Just get rid of a non-conference game so everyone plays 3 cupcakes instead of 4.

Easy rule to change. And like I said, just offer to let the students move in early so they can make the game. Personally I think it's more important to avoid cutting so close to semester finals, but it's also possible to just force everyone to wrap up conference play a week earlier.

Then the controversy just leads to #13 team arguing THEY should be in the playoffs.

1. No reason to do this when you can play fewer regular season games

2. See 1.

3. Yes, every conf needs a conf championship

4. 16 team playoff

5. bowl season will become obsolete. To much corruption and too many trying to get rich off that corruption. If your team sucks, tough, get better.

6. See 5.

7. I say semi finals on neutral. This will accomodate the 4 bcs bowls. Rose, Sugar, Orange, Fiesta.

8. Sure, new years day works

9. Whenever

10. Yes, smarter players

11. NO. basicly you are creating a trade system within college football

12. no biggy

13. Meh...i favor cutting practice and game film study time before changing academics

14. NO....cut practice time and game film study time before paying them. with fewer practice and study they can get jobs if they want them so bad.

Notre Dame doesn't get anything guaranteed.... If they want to get into the playoffs, they can make sure they play BCS teams regularly and actually win their games.

Who cares what the #13 team thinks. That's like saying that 64 teams in basketball isn't enough to determine the champ. #13 should have won more games. Any undefeated team with a halfway respectable schedule will be in the top 10....

Bowls are part of college football. No reason why teams suddenly have to have no post season now after a century of bowls... Give me a break dude. I don't agree with anything you said, Mark.

Bowls are a culture of corruption dude.

They give the players gifts (watches, clothes, game consols, ipods etc) but hey its ok because the NCAA said because those sponsers pay millions but god forbid you even get a free meal from a fan, you cheat. This is all on the record, Fiesta bowl scandle. It happens everywhere thats why bowls keep popping up! Its a money grab man.

They bid for teams like bidding for cattle. They want fanbases to bring money to their communities so money gets exchanged and favors are done (cruises, trips to resorts etc) for those people (bowl committees) to help them decide who they pick for the game.

Bowls are the bane of college football and if a playoff system is to begin, they must go away and this is truth and this is why you dont have playoffs.

oh my god dude... so the bowls give out free swag... that's the point...

The only real scandal is creating a national champion out of the system. So you take 12 teams, form a playoff, let everyone else have their bowls. I hate to tell you this Mark, but it doesn't have to be your way or the highway. With this system, we get a real champ, and we get bowls.

Take a pill. Everybody knows what the bowls are about. So what, let the teams play.

I agree with forkem as long as they are crowning a champion under a corrupt system there's never going to be a pure national champion.Following a format based on a coaches poll full of personal agenda as well as factoring an AP poll with their own motives and a bull shit computer system for rank. Then running it through a commitee who's main goal is money. It's all corruption breeding more corruption. You want a real champion let it be decided on the field not behind closed doors .

The bowl system is corrupte, broken and out of date. There used to be a rule that you couldn't go to bowl games in back to back years(Big 10). Some schools never went to bowl games back in the day. (ND). Going away from the Bowl system is not that big of a deal, except for the 1% at the top who make the real money off it like bowl committee chairmen who make 7 figure salaries to host 1 game a year.

6-6 vs 7-5 why have a bowl game for that unless only those at the top 1% profit from it? There is no point. Some say ahh its for the kids...great so you support rewarding mediocrity?

Some teams even lose money going to bowl games but you can bet that chairmembers profited and those ADs and school presidents got their fair share of drinking and parties and some even get cruises.

Lets get real. The bowl system is wack and out of date. Playoffs and let it be done.

I agree with Mark. The bowls are whats holding CFB back. Schools lose money while the bowl committees, etc get rich.
