What bothers me most about NU is the way we play at HOME. Over the last 2 years I think we play better in away games than we do at home. I don't know why that is, but it is what it is.
We used to have home field advantage. I don't know if we have that anymore.

Yeah, recently that's been the case. I just assumed on the road the team was in hotels and more focused. At home there are local things for distraction. Ahem..

Enjoyed your post. I see you have less than 1500 posts since Jan 2010 while several others have 15,000-20,000. It's clear that quality still beats quantity.
I put myself on record that if we are not perennial National Championship contenders soon or if we have another performance like we had against Washington in the Holiday Bowl, we need to seriously consider hiring a new HC. I will never forget that Bo saved us from oblivion, but we need to take it to the next level. It's not clear if Bo is capable of taking us to the next level.

As much of a non fan I was of the hiring of Bo in the first place it is hard for me to say a coach that has 29 wins in his first 3 seasons so far is on the hot seat. Back to back 10 win seasons is not something to be completely pissed about.

And yes, I may not post a ton buy I pick my spots and research the shit out of stuff. Sometimes too much so.

This is not quality. Let me guess you're about 27 - 30ish right?

The whiners were calling for Tom Osborne's head too. He had 9 overall wins in 10 of his seasons.

T.O. was handed an established program, had the liberty of using partial qualifiers, didn't have a 65 scholarship limitation, the recruit contact restrictions, or the time out of office restrictions Bo has.

So.. Rex isnt a true RB cause he isnt in top 50 fer yards?

I appreciate his commitment, his work ethic, and I'm sure he's a personable guy. All of the attrubutes of the kids Bo likes to recruit.

But at this point Rex is a 'serviceable' RB.

Is he even Top 75? I don't know because the NCAA site doesn't go below 50.

so.. through 2 games when our offense has featured T-Magic as the runner, you are willing to say that being top(insert # here) at RB determines how good you are?

Who has a 65 scholarship limit?

I see where you are coming from with this and agree with it but the constant T.O. comparison is getting really old. The point you were trying to was that things are different now right? Well that is why I am growing tired of the constant comparison. Bo is not T.O. and college football is not the same college football from 20, 30, 40 years ago.

NU is a running team. Rex had playing time last season as well. Everyone else on that list also has only 2 games and play in predominantly passing offenses.

Rex is a 'serviceable' north/south runner.

I'm willing to hear you out. What about Rex makes him a special RB?

Rex can block.. really well... doesn't go down at first contact, and has a nose for running lanes, and isn't afraid to get outside if nothing else is open. He's quick enough for an RB, though he's not going to run 90 yards every play

He can also pass effectively from the wildcat, read the defense for option plays out of wildcat, and disguise the ball in the spread option/zone read

I'm not saying he's some kind of all-world perennial Heisman contender, but Rex Burkhead is more than a serviceable north/south runner.

My bad Jed, 85 on scholarship. The 8 is right next to the 6 you know. :D

I'm not comparing Bo to TO 'at all' in regards to perceived ability as a HC. There's a lot more equality in CFB now than when TO was in charge. TO coached one or two less games a year than Bo has to coach now. So in reality 9/10 wins is really kind of a bottom standard, 11 wins is a plus, anything over that is pure bonus. T.O. only had 5 out of 25 seasons of 12+wins.

'can block.. really well'. So do FB's
'doesn't go down at first contact'. Neither do FB's
'has a nose for running lanes'. So did Cory Schlesinger and the Makovickas.

I'll give you the second part I guess. I haven't see enough success out of that type of offense to consider it an identity you can hang your hat on. Something that can be depended on.

There are more computer savvy than I. I'm serviceable. What's up?

my HDD on the rig I built was all buggy, and windows wouldn't read the device on that comp, or when i plugged it in via eSATA to me laptop..

the BIOS on the new rig would read that a hard drive was detected, just wouldn't show up in either windows OS i used..

think this would be a formatting issue? we tried to use ubuntu to reformat the drive, but had a shitty burn to cd, and it didn't work (couldn't find me USBs)

My friend had a unopened drive that he just let me buy from him, and it ended up working fine on first try..

so.. formatting issue, or pos part that got shipped to me?
