NU will beat Washington @ Memorial Stadium. I don't know about the 16.5 though. There will be offensive improvement in timing and technique this week. Washington is still a couple of years away from being a Top 20 contender.

I feel like we should win with the talent we have, but I have flashbacks of Texas last year.........this Washington team would beat last year's Texas team by 2 TD's in my opinion, I just want to see us come out and play with intensity when we have an opponent who comes in wanting to prove something.

Yep!! That was TO's offense forever. Same thing we see now. It takes special ingredients to get it perfected into NC caliber.

lol..........a couple of Tommie Fraziers........a couple of Lawrence Phillips........a pipeline

LOL that's not old, that's our current offense.

Yes. It is too old.

What is the rule on the "Tom Osborne Expressway" in Grand island?

You can't pass?

Sound familiar?

Pelini is taking NU back to the old days. It's gonna take some time to get that physical attribute back. LSU had it tonight.

To me it starts up front.........I haven't seen the offensive line play with that attitude that I remember seeing in the 90's. Those guys played with a lot of pride........they were out there every time looking to back up that badass reputation they had.

Man I took that for granted back then. Of course I was a lot younger then, but I would kill to have that back now.

Right now NU is running a Frank Solich rendition of the TO offense. It's TO's playbook w/out the play calling and supporting cast. Eric crouch (T-Mart) left, Eric Crouch (T Mart) right.

NU's got some up and coming skill players that can rival TO's 83 team. It's gonna take a couple years though. Be patient.

I know people may say I'm crazy, but I think if we come out and have a couple of great games here against Washington and Wyoming, the overall mindset of our team may be in the right place to go on the road to Wisconsin and get the upset.

I don't like to look ahead like that, but let's be honest........Wisconsin is the one we've all been waiting for, and winning that game would probably change our entire season.

Losing that game would put us right on track for the type of season that we are kind of expecting we might have at this point.

Essentially, I believe that Wisconsin is the hinge point for our entire season I guess when you look at it that way............we will go one way or the other based on the outcome of that game.

Yep. That's what I meant by 'frame of mind'. Martinez can't do it on his own. Skill players need to step up and make plays. If someone other than the QB starts making plays the OL will get more confidence in what they're doing.

Sorry to say it but Burkhead isn't it.

I wish I could compare Wisconsin to a team we've played recently, but I can't.

Bo will put the defense in the best position to compete and make adjustments. I have complete faith in that. I can just see some games becoming ugly quick if we're having a couple 3 and outs to start games.

Yeah, I'm really not looking that far ahead. NU couldn't beat Wisconsin the first 2 games, that's for sure.

No we would not beat Wisconsin if we played the way we did those first 2 games..........no doubt about that.

I guess I'm looking in terms of getting our team believing that they can go and beat Wisconsin on the road. I think if we come out and beat Washington handily it would be a good start.

If we have to fight for our lives against Washington, I fear that the team will start to give into the fact that we are just not solid enough to play with a team like Wisconsin.

Burkhead = Dan Alexander

FB playing RB. Good in north/south, not so good in east/west.

Martinez = Crouch without the cuts.

The OL isn't physical enough to overcome that.

I really don't know what to expect against Washington or Wisconsin or any other B1G team. I have come to the realization NU is not a Top 5 team.

I'd be pleased with a bowl win and a Top 15 finish though.

Isn't it funny though, if we win these next 3 games, including going on the road and beating Wisconsin...........we would be ranked around top 5.

You are right, the reality of it is we are just not a top 5 team.......I just find it so ironic though that if we win these next 3 games we would probably trick the entire country into believing we are a top 5 team.

Then of course, the question would be, is Wisconsin as good as we thought?

You tell me Jed.......we have 3 of his fuckin kids on scholly.....he must have some say in who gets recruited. Barney has not given me one reason to believe that he knows what the hell he is doing. Bo is ultimately responsible for the entire team but Barney has to be held responsible as well. We have scholarship kids that he has worked with for 3-4 years that cant beat out walk ons that started playing football 4 years ago.

So Barney went into Bo's office and forced Bo to recruit Barney's sons? Is that how you see it going down? Other than keeping Shawn Watson by Osborne, do you see Bo being forced to do anything. Bo is about winning games and that is it!!! If he doesn't think something is going to directly help him win games then he isn't going to want to do it. Why do you think he is such a dick to the media. It is because it does not directly impact winning games so he doesn't care.

As for players Barney has coached, you can only work with what you are given. Some players may have all the physical tools but no mental ones.

Another thing on the OL. The previous OC and Barney had completely different philosophies and the previous OC had absolutely no clue what type of offense he was truly running. It is next to impossible to be able to get quality OL consistency when the guy running the offense doesn't have a clue either. Barney is starting over this year with a new OC and a very young OL in my opinion.

Not bad Jed....

and I will say this again.... we have some talent and it needs to be molded... and I too am tired of saying this but facts are facts... Like I stated before, we will be in a hand full of games that are decided by a few plays... Most Husker fans know this means we could end up on either side of the win/loss status in such games.

It takes a little good fortune to go along with talent and coaching to get to where most want us to be...

I probably should not say this too loud but... I like Barney as a person but I have never been sold on his coaching abilities... Just my opinion... but I would agree with the comment you made that it's not all his fault... and ultimately everything falls back on Bo's plate...

But I would also agree with RA... he (Bo) has us on the right track...

Bo will put the defense in the best position to compete and make adjustments. I have complete faith in that. I can just see some games becoming ugly quick if we're having a couple 3 and outs to start games.

Did you see last weeks game? The defensive players are saying the problem was FS had a look they had not seen before. If that is the case then this team is done for. We are coming up against teams all year long that will have a look they have not seen before. If it takes us two to three quarters to adjust to that we are screwed.

I myself don't buy that. We had missed tackles, broken coverages and a line that was pushed around by smaller players. WE HAD A DEFENSE THAT WAS NOT READY TO PLAY. Now I realize a lot of that is youth. But there is also a pervasive lack of leadership.

Sound familiar? Last year I saw tidbits of genius on our offense but then would see laziness. This year I saw an offense that has stepped forward but still has a long way to go to be either consistent or competitive. We are still dropping balls and we are still getting manhandled on the line.

I hope to hell that I see a different team this week but what I fear is that the inconsistency of last years offense may have spread to the defense also.

I hope I am wrong but I fear this Washington team with a new quarterback who has been on fire so far (and making very smart decisions), receivers who are catching the ball against our defense with a secondary who is having broken coverages and at best has tackles upon catch rather than breaking up passes. This could be a very long game.

I think saying the OL is bad because Bo moved Baker to D is a crock. I know that's just an example...just say they didn't do a great job of recruiting OL and be done with it. I'm sure lesson learned for Bo...look at the last few recruiting classes.

Barney flaps his mouth every year about all the depth we're going to have and he ends up playing 6 guys. I'm tired of being a Barney apologist. I've stuck up for him so many times citing his prior job performances (Iowa State OL), endorsements by former Huskers and coaches, comments from players. On and on it goes.

Time to say put the fuck up or shut up. Really, Bo has proven his worth time and again but what has Barneys room done? Right now the Best thing about Barney is his TE son.
