This is the most talented group that Rice has had. I have watched all three of their first games. Cal Poly was the only team that put up a fight, and they took UCLA to the wire too. The rebels look really good, except for free throws, which is no surprise. They will Mel the tourney, I am almost positive. Then one and done like usual....

Don't forget that Duke was trying to run coach k out of town before he got his shit together. Rice is smart, but I do.t know what he can't seem to get his team's to play cohesive team ball. They look like their chemistry is good.

Zimmerman is a seven footer, that plays like SF at center. Dude puts the ball on the floor, and hit a three the other night. Pat mcCaw is going to have a monster year too. Derick Jones Jr looks crazy athletic and bounces off the floor for blocks and dunks. New point guards should help too. Can't think of the names, but they know what they are doing. A little too excited this season.

Rebels have 4, possibly 5 quality opponents outside of their conf schedule(UCLA, Shockers, Ducks, Arizona, Kansas), they don't need to win all of them but even winning 2 of those would put them in a good spot going into MWC play. The talent is there, we'll see how it fares when the competition gets tougher.

@Utah(lost by 5), Kansas at home, Cal and hopefully West Virginia in the Las Vegas invitational are the main ones. Not a deep SOS, so beating those 3 teams would be big.

Good for the MWC with Northern Iowa beating North Carolina

Colorado State beat Northern Iowa so that's a quality win for them and we weren't expecting them to be towards the top of the league.

SDSU lost at home to Arkansas-Little Rock, horrible game. This team has not been good so far, lot of work to do.

Yikes. Everybody had them second behind Boise in most rankings I saw
They SHOULD get better, the offense especially. You can't turn it over 16 times in a game with limited possessions, no matter who you face. I'm not worried about SDSU missing the NCAA tourney yet, but they don't look like the "lock" that they usually are. Cal and Kansas will be big tests.

Colorado State quietly looks like the leagues leader with our loss to Montana and San Diego State losing to Arkansas- Little Rock.

This league will need some more quality wins to counter these bad losses, good news is a lot of us play some good opponents, so there's chances

Mountain West has certainly struggled so far this year. I thought going into the season it was going to be at best a 2 bid league. Big week for the conference ahead:

UNLV is in Maui
Air Force at Colorado
Boise State is in the Wooden Classic
San Diego State is hosting Cal
Utah State at Duke

Definitely is a big week

I can still see it getting 3 bids,

but New Mexico losing to USC hurts

New Mexico being bad is not good for the conference, they're so tough to beat on the road that if they're bad they will provide bad losses for a lot of teams.

UNLV has got beat UCLA, which I think they can. CalPoly took UNLV and UCLA down to the wire. I think the two teams are about an even match, with a slight edge to UCLA.

Right now I'd say the only teams in the MWC who might get an NCAA ticket is SDSU, Boise, and UNLV. They gotta get some good out of conf wins these next couple weeks which is possible. It'd be great to see UNLV beat UCLA and possibly Kansas, SDSU beat Cal and/or Kansas, and Boise beat MSU.

New Mexico and Colorado State are the only teams in the league with votes

Not sure how New Mexico got those

I'm surprised there aren't more SDSU and UNM fans on this site.

I am too

Especially New Mexico fans, would figure some of them would be here for basketball season.

Just as long as we don't get Utah State fans

no one can stand them
