Was just listening to the fan 590 Dreger was on and reports that a Blockbuster trade is in the works.

Dreger reports that Kovy wants to sign for 12 mil and a long term. He also says his wife wants to go to LA because of the good weather. So to clear cap for that contract he says if Kovy agrees to sign with LA this deal will happen

Carter and Gagne for Kopitar, Brown, Quick and Jack Johnson

That will clear enough cap space to sign Kovy at 12 mil it will also leave the Flyers with 600k in space with all those players coming back. Once Kovy agrees to deal Flyers will pull the trigger on the trade and then Kovy will sign minutes after. As for the 3 way thing he also reported that the Flyers will likely flip a d-man to Boston to make room for Jack Johnson.

As for the justifications for trading Carter. Dreger said hat they think Kopitar will be better and that Carter won't be the same player with his 2 broken feet. Kopitar is also younger.

LA love Kovy and will do this. Even if they are giving up a lot of key players. They think Kovy, Carts and Gags may fill that void.

Man this blew my FREAKIN MIND IF DREGER IS RIGHT THE FLYERs ARE GOING TO LOOK FUKIN SCARY

EDIT: DEAL ONLY HAPPENS IF KOVY AGREES TO SIGN IN LA BEFORE HAND. THEN TRIGGER IS PULLED AND LA SIGNS KOVY MINUTES AFTER. IF KOVY DOESN'T AGREE NO DEAL. HOWEVER, HE SAID GAGS WILL BE TRADED EITHER WAY

I for one would totally welcome this deal our team would be better in so many ways. Kopitar and Brown make up for Carts and Gags, Johnson will be phenominal in the years to come so they would have to lock him up and quick + leights can fill the goaltending hole until Bobrosky and Eriksson are ready. They would have to send Boosh to LA too and we would be about 2.4 mill over cap so we would need to flip a D-man I'm guessing but Carle or Coburn could be traded, or they waive Shelley and O'donnell(I know dick move to guys we just got but meh).

Just wanted to share this in case you all missed it.

Kopitar is greater than Carter. Brown can equal Gagne. And we are getting a solid #1 goalie and a stud young dman for basically free?

Yeah, it definitely sounds like a hoax. However, I'd pretty much crap my pants if it happened.

Well, there are just too many reasons why this would never happen. The Kings would be losing their two highest scoring forwards, starting goalie and second best defenseman all just to have two expiring contracts and gain three million dollars in cap space to sign Kovalchuk.

Aside from trading away Quick, none of it makes any sense. Kopitar and Johnson are two of the three young studs that the Kings have. I can't see them trading both of them away for anything, let alone just Carter and Gagne.

Interesting....Kings would be getting upwards of 100-130 goals a season in Carter(30-40g), Gagne(30-40G) and Kovalchuk(40-50g)....God imagine that line!!!
Flyers would be getting...50 goals between Kopitar (30g) and Brown (20g) a young defenseman and a young starting goalie. From that persepective and only that perspective it would work heavily in favor of the Kings- though throwing Kovy in the mix has nothing to do with the Flyers!!!
But the Flyers would be taking 2.950 Million more in salary just from that trade!! Then who do you send to Boston and for what?? Carle or Coburn for what draft picks???

I will admit if this trade goes down I would be overly excited for Flyers hockey but would be watching a lot of Kings games....Hate to see a homegrown player like Gagne go!!!!
Kings may be giving up a little too much...but they still have Bernier and can you imagine the ticket sales after announcing a first line of Gagne, Carter and Kovy!!!!

This trade isnt going to happen so there is no reason to even think about it. Stats dont tell everything. We would be getting two franchise players in return for two guys whom are both expendable.

I would be ecstatic with just Anze and Quick. Throwing in Johnson and Brown just gives me an erection which will eventually turn into blue balls if this rumor gets off and running.

And if this trade happens you're gonna need a mop

been edited about 5 times, probably doesn't make any sense, i thought it could starting out but it really doesnt

i'm hearing boston is involved in the initial deal.. i'm thinking some of those guys go to boston.. i dont know who boston loses though.. they need wings..

carter, savard, (kovalchuk) to LA.. gagne, kopitar to BOS.. quick, brown, johnson, maybe a draft pick or 2 to PHI???

LA gets a couple centers and the big prize they want
BOS gets a solid winger and an up and coming center
PHI gets its goalie, a solid winger and an up and coming defender, and cap space?

doesn't make a whole lot of sense because BOS and PHI both are really deep down the middle and have a solid D-group.. both weak at wing

i have no idea.. but as far as trades go i think that makes more sense? maybe? i dno boston only gives up savard and the flyers have 7 (8 if you include bart) NHL d-men.. i dont know this is HARD haha

also didnt run cap numbers for that deal.. LA prob cant fit that under

Yes I'm gulliable by reporting a RUMOR I heard.

Ok I'll try to cover all the questions I've seen.

1. Yes, this trade looks too good for Philly I'm sure we would be sending either a D-man or a few prospects/picks to LA.

2. The Boston part is believed to be us sending them a D man, even though Savard then going to LA would make some sense.

3. You're all under valueing a 40 goals scorer, Carter has done it once and Gags is a proven 30+ goal scorer.

4. LA under values Quick, which makes no sense for a goalie won 39 games and put up decent stats. I'd say Kopitar and Carter have the potential to put up similar number, Carter would score more goals I would imagine where Kopitar looks like the superior passer of the 2. Gags would have to sign and extension but does a lot of the same things Brown does and has a better upside if he stays healthy, plus he brings some more experience to a very young LA team. Johnson is just icing on the cake really I think if he is included we have to send Carle to LA or a few prospects since LA loves to build through their phenominal farm system.

5. Money- Philly: Carter 5m, Gags, 5.25, Boosh .925M(total=11.175) <---> LA: Brown 3.2m, Kopitar 6.8m, Quick 1.8m, Johnson 1.8m(total=13.6m). This leaves the Flyers about 2m over cap, but gives us a good young goalie and good back-up in leighton. It also leaves LA with about 17m in cap space and hearing that Kovy wants about 10m a year for 10 years and La has shown interest in Kaberle this would allow them to acquire both with some space to manuever during the reg season. To take care of the cap issue we would be dealing a D man, my guess would be either Carle or Coburn.

I know everyone wants to write this off as blatant fantasy but with the cap there are going to be some interesting trades made by teams to keep themselves competitive. This trade does seem to favor the Flyers in it's current form(doesn't mean that it's the final version or even going to happen) but it is currently just a rumor albeit an interesting rumor. If this s anything but a rumor it will definately be completed though, so for the time being against my better judgment I'm going to continue to watch for signs that this trade in some form could be completed.

It's not that, it just seems to heavy of a trade all the way around. Who knows though it could happen. We will have to wait.. And keep reporting all the rumors speculation that you can! I for one like it, just interesting to watch how these things go!

It would be one of the biggest trades in post lock out history. The funny thing is the more I think about it I can totally see LA going after Kaberle if they were to get Kovy(could you imagine that pairing on the blue line on PP's?) and they have the assests to acquire him too. I think if LA got Kovy, Carter, Gags & Kaberle + something else from philly and gave up Kopitar, Brown, Quick & Johnson + something to Toronto it could end out being a good deal all the way around.

Plus I'm routing for Brian Burke to unload Kaberle cause his deals always entertain me, it's like watching someone steal candy from a baby or something.

I will def keep updating this on what i see, however I will be getting really drunk soon so I apologize in advance if my typing becomes worse.

Oh I forgot to mention I think to LA a lot would be contingent on talking extensions with some if not all of the players they would be receiving.

On the Flyers and Gagne....

Surprisingly, the Gagne stuff does not appear to be about a goalie....Not Thomas, and Not Nabokov (who I now feel is heading to Russia) I don't think it's about Kovalchuk (could always be) ...I believe, this is all about Bobby Ryan...that would be my guess.

The Flyers rarely ask players to waive NTC. This is only the second time I can remember them doing so (They asked JR to waive when they signed Forsberg). Ed Snider is old school and very loyal. He would only go to Gagne if he had something definitive that he couldn't pass up.

This is form hockeybuzz.com

Bobby Ryan would be a great pick up. Even though thats shoots the huge LA trade to shit, oh well they're both rumors.
