it sounds almost no brainerish, but a good GOOD Chef knife. I don't care to buy the expensive knife sets, just a nice set of steak knives and a really good Hinkles Chef knife. The others I just buy, sharpen as long as I can then toss. But going to a knife store and trying out the chef knife that fits your hand...I use mine for everything. It's my go to knife when most proably use paring knives or others. If I'm trimming a brisket, cutting ribs, or coring a bell pepper...it's in my hand. I use to think they were a waste, but this thing has lasted going on 10 years and all the sharpenings haven't even affected the blade yet. I don't expect to ever have to buy another chef knife.

I stole this out of my kitchen and use it as my back scratcher. Wife had to buy a new one.

And you didn't post it in my back scratcher thread? :tsk:

There are only 3 knives I use regularly in my kitchen.

1. Bread loaf cutting knife. (serrated)
2. Standard fishing filet knife.
3. My favorite butcher knife for cutting up chicken, veggies, etc...

I keep the filet knife and butcher knife sharp with one of these. I know they make a multitude of knife sharpeners, but this works as goos as any in my experience.

I have probably 5-6 other knives, but they just sit in the drawer.

A good can opener. I prefer the smooth edge ones that don't tear the shit out of the cans, they just break the seal.

Troof, but you gotta get a good one. I got an OXO good grips one and thought it would be good, sucked. Wife got fed up and got a cheaper one at Target, works 10x better. Go figure.

While I usually use these around the grill, they come in really handy in the kitchen too. One of the most used tools that I own.

I use a ricer utensil on my potatoes instead of a masher. It makes them much more soft and and less gluey.

The stainless steel actually neutralizes the garlic odor on your fingers as you hand wash it. Bada bing

(Stainless-steel binds with sulfuric ingredients to lift odors)

I just smash the shit out of it with a big knife, then mince. (I hate washing presses, tho that is one of the cooler ones I've seen)

I use my stainless steel sink to rub the smell off. That shit works, and is a great tip.
