The NFL top 100 is just the players voting on who they believe the top 100 players are right now. It isn't intended to be a reflection of who is actually better than who. It's a popularity contest with some personal experience mixed in.

Not sure why anyone would get worked up over this list. Not that I'm saying anyone is in this case.

Oh it's the players? I didn't even realize that. That makes it even more meaningless IMO. I agree on not getting worked up over it. I've never even watched it. Might as well argue over whether one writer at Sports Illustrated thinks Revis or Sherman is better...

Going forward, I totally agree. For 2014 he sure was and probably #1 or 2. But, Lynch isn't #4 in either case...

The fact that Lynch did what he did with a below average OL, and with a super high percentage of run vs. pass plays, I would not have Murray above him. Yes Murray had the stats but he had an amazing OL in front of him and a more dynamic pass game to keep defenses honest.

They can runblock well and their QB makes them look worse at pass blocking. Like all "extend the play" QBs do.

Actually if you double it he would have had a better year than any other RB. And that was the half a year that he got criticized for with a "Meh, good not great". People love to hate...

So I just cleared out the DVR and watched the nfl net top 100 players. My question is simple, does anyone here think Murray is better then beast mode?

Murray ranked 4th, Lynch 9th.

Not a huge slight obviously, but imo the fact that Murray had a ridiculous number like 900 plus yards PRE contact last year, tells you he's a product of his line. Wonder how high D Mcfadden will be on next years list.....

You're right, as far as run blocking is concerned Seattle's line is probably at the bottom end of the top third in the league. Where they struggle is pass protection and penalties where they are bottom third and close to dead last respectively. I'd still take Dallas' line in run blocking though.

As far as the list goes Lynch at 9 is probably about right. Murray at 4 is a little high ( didn't he move up like 80 spots from the last list?). He definitely had the best season of any RB last year and I wouldn't have had an issue if he won MVP, but an argument could be made that he's the fourth best running back in the league not the fourth best player. Top 4 RBs are kind of hard to rank though. Any order of Murray, Lynch, Bell, and AP is probably acceptable.

I don't think Murray will ever have a season like or close to his 2014 campaign ever again.
