JG's best move in a long time, Murray fumbles, and he benched him. When Murray came back, he ran fantastic. Way to go JG, keep it up

A better move would be if Jerry doesn't just give Matt Johnson a roster spot & give it to someone who has earned & deserved it....I would be fine with Heath

I would cut Johnson. Maybe he goes somewhere else and does well, but he can't help if he can't get off the trainers table

I concur, but I would at least try to sneak him on the PS.

I agree. After their last game, the last thing they needed was someone losing the ball. I think the message was received.

Can he play Guard? I do believe we can upgrade at S, but with our Cap situation the only positions I think this team can afford to look at FA are OT and G. We will play this season with the safeties on the roster.

I don't think Kenny Phillips will hurt our cap much. The issue with him of course is health. Still have a soft spot for this guy. Wanted him so bad in the first round. Can't imagine he's got much going for him right now, but I'd give him a physical.

We are pretty close already, will be closer next year. The more we can stay under the cap today we can use that to help next years cap. Unless there is a tremendous upgrade I see no reason to bring in another player just because we an afford it. Honestly even if we bring in a G or OT I wouldn't do it unless the player was a sure upgrade. Just upgrading slightly isn't wroth in in my mind because we need to think about tomorrow too.

Damn I'm lost when was he let go by the Giants?

Shit I'd take a chance on him ... he's good when healthy ... health being the issue.

Manster. He would add almost nothing to our cap and he will only get a one year deal wherever he ends up.

Again though, his health is the biggest factor or he wouldn't be looking for his 3rd team in the last few months...

Never said we would have to break the bank on him, but his minimum contract would be $750,000. Granted he just may sign for that, but I'm sure he'd ask for some incentive money also. With us having to worry about the 2014 cap right now I'd prefer to keep that 730,000 in our back pocket and apply it to the cap next year. I'd have a different opinion if I thought he'd be a big improvement over our current S's but I have way too many concerns that he wouldn't last the season. I have no visions of grander that our safeties are great, but I think if the front 7 can get some pressure along with Carr and Claiborne manning the corners our safeties will be fine. Lets see is a good OLman become available when the final cuts get here.

Disagree Manster ... as bad as our safety situation is ... I'd sign him right now .... and never second guess it

I guess we'll have to disagree then. But that's OK, I still think you know a lot about football and the Cowboys:suds:

Giants throw everything they have into the D-line.

They dont coach the linebackers or secondary worth a shit ... nor do they care about them. That D-line has made the back 7 look better than they are for years.

I liked Phillips in college .. hell I like him on the Giants when healthy (or disliked vs us)

He's a perfect fit for this defense ....

Just saying .... I'll pull that trigger in a heart beat

THe Eagles safety situation is worse then the Cowboys. We are desperate for good safety play and havent had even an average one in the last 5 years. If a team with horrific safetys like Philly cut him and he had less then a million dollar contract there is a reason. He was once a Pro BOwl player that has knees of a 50 year old man. Hes done.

Quad injury not knee.....

Phillips, 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, signed a one-year contract worth $2 million this offseason, but only $150,000 of workout bonuses was guaranteed. If he had made the team, he would have received a $1 million roster bonus to go with a base salary of $850,000.

The signing of the 26-year-old former first-round draft pick of the Giants was supposed to help solidify a secondary that added four free agents this past offseason.

Instead, what has plagued the former University of Miami standout, injuries, caused his demise again. After playing briefly in the team’s first preseason game, a quad injury kept him out of practice and out of the team’s second and third preseason games and led to his release.

At his best, Phillips was an excellent free safety. As recently as 2011, he recorded 82 tackles and had four interceptions for the Giants.
