Defensive back Jajuan Harley (FSU) and running back Drayton Calhoun (LSU) both began classes at MTSU Thursday. Both were ranked among the nation’s top prospects when signing with their previous schools. Harley will sit out the 2011 season to fulfill NCAA transfer rules. Calhoun has appealed to the NCAA for a family hardship that could make him eligible to play for MTSU this season.
They join previously announced mid-term signees Micah James and Jason Rexroad, both offensive linemen, in the 2011 signing class. Duke transfer running back Kyle Griswould, who sat out last season at MTSU, will also become eligible for the Blue Raiders in 2011. Griswould, who transferred from Duke last year, racked up more than 3,500 rushing yards and 1,200 receiving yards during his all-state career at Shaw High School in Columbus, Ga. He will compete at running back for MTSU this season. Calhoun (6-0, 180) was a SuperPrep All-American and named to the ESPNU 150 as a 2008 senior at Tucker High in Clarkston, Ga. He redshirted at LSU in 2009 and switched from running back to cornerback last season. Calhoun is projected to play running back at MTSU. As a Rickards High standout in Tallahassee, Fla., Harley was ranked the No. 10 safety in the country by Scout.com when he signed with FSU in 2009. He is projected to play cornerback at MTSU after sitting out the 2011 season.
