Leake has been doing an amazing job against this offense and what's even more amazing is that our offense has been clicking at the same time-pretty unusual for the M's I think.
Glad the M's had a great W yesterday on national TV. Leake threw a gem and the offense was pretty consistent throughout the game. I see skip messed with the lineup a bit today but he just keeps Seager in the 5 hole. Seag had a couple hits yesterday but fanned his first ups today. Gonzo doing a good job so far through 2 and with Sale on the hill it might be another one of those low score games.
WTF?? I think base runners are gonna be few and far between so let's not have anymore base running blunders. Span gets nailed between 1st and 2nd with our only base hit in the 3rd.
Sale is killing us. 10K's in 5 innings- Marco has his work cut out for him today. Doing an awesome job through 4. Keep it up going into the bottom of the 5th
It is like the difference between a Moyer and a Johnson. Johnson could make mistakes and still make you look silly, but a Moyer had to be dead on every batter or it quickly goes south. One out of six so anything less than an Orioles sweep will make for a bad road trip in my book.
At least we didn't get swept out of bean town. Once Boston figured out Gonzo, things happened real fast. That's the problem we'll have against the "big boy" teams. Those pros can figure a pitcher out quick and then take them out behind the woodshed. Sale obviously is tough to hit when he's on his game. We just didn't catch him on a down day and we paid the price. Hard to see our guys k'-ing all day, but look on the bright side-we're going to Baltimore for 4 and then KC for 3- come back home and get to entertain the Angels for 3
Unfortunately for the M's, the Stros next 4 games are with Toronto, which is just above Baltimore in the East. Doesn't look like we'll be moving up this coming week. Oh well, like Servais always says in post game...."that's baseball" and "those things happen"
And this is why I thought German wasn't that great vs us, but our hitters just kept missing strikes. His next outing:
Domingo German was rocked for six runs on nine hits in just three innings in a loss to the Rays on Sunday.
German was brilliant against the Mariners in his start on Tuesday. That would not be an accurate description of his start against Tampa Bay on Sunday. The right-hander wasn’t fooling anyone with his stuff in his three innings, and the command of his arsenal was poor. We’ll call it an off-day for German, but off-days haven’t been all that uncommon, as seen in his 5.40 ERA over 63 2/3 innings. He’ll attempt to show the stuff he displayed against Seattle in his next outing, scheduled for Saturday against the Red Sox.
