Best offense they've had in over a decade. Well over in fact. The starting pitching is in a bad funk right now, but wasn't this bad just a few weeks ago. The bullpen still worries me and will all season if they don't do something before the trade deadline, but I doubt the starters are all in this shape for the rest of the year.

The problem is a big chunk of their tougher games are here right now and they pick THIS time to struggle. Getting swept by the twinkies is one thing, but you CANNOT have the same thing happen with Texas.

True... Oddly enough, I feel ok w/ the bullpen, especially with Zych coming back soon... Not really going to count in Furbush much... Starting pitcher has me very concerned atm because they are going to tax the strength of the staff, atm , the bullpen if they don't pitch more than 4 or 5 innings a start...

My unprofessional eye says he is still a thrower and not a pitcher. Just like in the case of Paxton, so something is not being taught in the minors. Pitching at any mph needs ball movement and not just side-to-side. There is no downward plain to any of their respective styles. If you look back at Rich Hills game (A's) vs us, he beat us with great movement on his balls and he doesn't throw mid to high 90's like our two.

My second feeling on it, and I have been complaining about this for years now, is bunching pitches. Any Hall Of Fame pitcher will tell you that back in the day you made the batter change his line of sight on pitches by mixing pitches up, down, inside, and outside. I consistently see on the pitch tracker our guys pounding a certain spot to each hitters. You will see 7 pitches thrown and 6 are low and outside or up and in. The batter locks in and then has the advantage. If the batter has to look for height of pitch and direction of pitch, then guessing plays a big role which makes it advantage pitcher.

That is my opinion on Walker and most of our staff. Karns is actually good at mixing things up more than anyone else on the staff. My only problem with him at times is he tries to get too cute with off speed stuff over and over when he can throw 95 and locate. Sometimes you just need to bury them and move on.

Yeah, definitely noticed that on Profar's HR. 0-2 count and the 3rd pitch goes right where strike 2 was. No wonder he hit it a mile.

I didn't see that because I turned it off so that kind of validates my point. I don't get it and M's have been doing that for years now.

Wasn't our night last night, but at least the big comeback Thurs keeps it from being a 3 game skid. Karns should keep us in the game and give our bats a chance to get it going. Still good opportunity to take this series.

Yeah he can get sent back to Tacoma.

His option for this season was used when he didn't make the 25 man roster out of spring so they can send him up and down as many times as they want for the season.
