Missed out last year with 90 wins while the AL East teams got in with 92. I think you're gonna need 90 again this year.

Also, the last time an AL team made it to the WC game with 85 wins were the Twins in 2017... outside of that, it's been closer to the 90 wins range going all the way back to 2003.

Base on projections, I highly doubt 85 will get in this year.

They added another WC now so you'd have to know the wins of the first team skipped every year. Last year would have been M's at 90, but prior years?

So they need to do more than a .525 clip the rest of the way if you don't think 85 can do it.

I mean a .560 pace would only put you at 87.

Right now there are no current WC slot holders doing better than .540

If all 3 holding aren't above that pace, why is it crazy to ask if any of the 3 will be open for that pace moving forward?

I was also looking at the history of the teams that also missed WC dating back to 2003. A lot of these 87-89+ win teams ended missing by a huge margin. I also took the added WC slots into account and even then those teams wouldn’t make it today.

85 is asking a lot for WC even with the additional slots. We’ll see.
