Being the last game of the season series and an early start, I think they'll probably find a way to get the full 5 in then end up calling it. Good thing we have a lead and can work on adding on once the rain slows enough to get the game official.

And if that is the case, that would be great luck. A win while saving Kirby's pitches and not having to use much of the bullpen would be really useful this time of the year.

4 gets all of their first round games at home. 5 & 6 play all on the road.

After 21 years the fans deserve to be able to go sit and watch a playoff game. I was at the Clemons 1 hit game in '01. Way too long to go without another one.

There is no advantage to 5. 5 road plays with 4 and the winner goes on to play 1. So you are really asking about is 6 better than 4 AND 5. The answer to that is still no.

The ALDS is best of 5 While the ALCS is best of 7.

So being the 4 rewards your fans with home games (while both 5 and 6 get none), and if you have to face Houston, 4 has to beat them 3 times while 6 would have to beat them 4 times in the later round.

Go get the 4 seed and reward the long suffering fans.

I know we as fans want home games, but was just having food for thought is if we as fans want the Astros or Yankees.

Sure, but you'd have to face them at some point. The 4 would not only have to win one less getting them in the ALDS, but the stros also will have sat for several days before that series. Maybe it disrupts their rhythm at the plate.

I don't want to settle for only breaking the streak either, but getting home games before worrying about future rounds makes sense.

Just get there without any more major injuries. It's a strong overall team, but their weakness is not having any depth at all except starting pitching.

Get to the end with the lineup in tact, get some home games for the fans, and lets see what happens.

Angel Hernandez is a special breed of umpire all on his own. The pitch he rung Haniger up on for strike 3 was literally the same as the first pitch to Suarez that he called a ball.

The rain delayed may have saved Kirby’s arm but have to use up the bullpen. No day off tomorrow as well and I’m sure the White Sox are already in town ahead of the M’s.
