I've seen rumors that Blowers is sick and they aren't talking about it publicly, but nothing definitive. He's been gone too long for it to be something basic like Covid.

Not likely fired since the segment 'blowers on baseball' is still there with someone else doing it, but you'd figure they would remove/rename it if he quit or was let go.

Something personal with the family he doesn't want public? Maybe he's got a drinking problem and went in for treatment? Who knows.

Or start tweaking starters and letting Kirby only being allowed 5 innings or 80 pitches and allow them to be a solid 5 or 6 instead of 4. 4 is the worst path to the ALCS but 5 and 6 puts them in matchups where they been great against the Yankees.

It is statistically more probable that they catch the Astros vs not being guaranteed a wild card spot because of how tough the schedule is for their competitors. The Guardians and Twins play a bunch of games and the loser with land a playoff spot. The Rays, Blue Jays and Orioles play each other making them all at best .500 teams. 5th is clinched but do we really want 4 but have to play the Astros.

4 gets all of their first round games at home. 5 & 6 play all on the road.

After 21 years the fans deserve to be able to go sit and watch a playoff game. I was at the Clemons 1 hit game in '01. Way too long to go without another one.

There is no advantage to 5. 5 road plays with 4 and the winner goes on to play 1. So you are really asking about is 6 better than 4 AND 5. The answer to that is still no.

The ALDS is best of 5 While the ALCS is best of 7.

So being the 4 rewards your fans with home games (while both 5 and 6 get none), and if you have to face Houston, 4 has to beat them 3 times while 6 would have to beat them 4 times in the later round.

Go get the 4 seed and reward the long suffering fans.

I still don't get why Winker continually hits at the top of the lineup. Guy is literally one of the worst batters on the team. Doesn't hit for average, doesn't hit for power. Your number two hitter having a .694 OPS is pathetic. Guy walks a lot but offers nothing else, so put him 8th or 9th. The bench is also acceptable.

Wow.. so something that is completely lost to me until now as I just go through the motions of watching baseball games.

1) there is a universal DH in place. This was an agreement after the strike this past season.

2) catcher/pitcher signs are being relayed electronically. An obvious solution to combat sign stealing. Did not even pay attention to this until now.
