Normally I'm the type that says "respect the rules of the game, demonstrate sportsmanship," etc. But man, I fucking loved the way the team responded to that and had Winker's back.

I don't want to give Servais credit, but I love the fact that this team still cares. You don't go out there looking to fight if you don't care.

Sadly that was my thought as well. I didn't see it but I heard that it looked pretty bad.

The only way to spin it is that at least Santana is better than the other journeymen we've been throwing out there, although not by much.

IMO it's a half assed move. We're sitting at 34-40 in fourth place, with a 10% of making the playoffs and Carlos Santana isn't going to push the needle and will just go down as a waste of prospects. I don't know what other options there are out there in free agency, but this just seems like a waste. He walks a lot but his OBP doesn't mean much if you don't have Haniger, Lewis or France to drive him in.

Jomboy's fight breakdown is pretty good. Some good chuckles, and I come out of it with more respect for Winker and Servais, who was right in the middle of the scrum, tackling motherfuckers unlike Nevin walking around the outside.
