The last guy went NL, NL, AL. Had a few big years from age 38 and up. He retired mid 80's, which was a little before people talked about "juicing".

It wasn't completely out of nowhere for this guy. He hit 40 at age 26, then again at age 38. But his 3 best consecutive homerun years were ages 38 to 40 which was a little weird.

The first time he hit 40 homers he had two teammates that also did it. One of those teammates never came close to 40 before or after. The other teammate hit 40 lots of times.

I know, I meant he started hitting a lot at a much older age again......like Carlton Fisk's 37 homers in the same year 85'

The ball was juiced at that time. I remember they had somebody talking about the stitches were put on tighter then the older balls.

Evans and Fisk were 1-2 in homers on the Seniors Tour…..Schmidt hit 33

Fisk was some kind of a freak. Who would want to continue Catching 100 games into his early 40's?

I ran across a crazy conspiracy thread about the season where Evans, Aaron and Davey Johnson all hit 40 homers with the Braves. They were saying maybe Aaron was juicing. But the whole thing doesn't make sense when you see how they were on the same team the next year and hit about half as many homers. Like they all found the cheat code then suddenly decided not to use it the next year?

I read that somewhere as well, very strange season for Davey Johnson looking at his homer totals, 18 was the most he ever hit…..then boom 43

Boggs had the same weird outlier season in 87. But that was a big HR season (for the time) across the majors.
