Matthews kind of got lost in the shuffle in the 50’s/60’s…..great player….Brett was one of only 4 players to get 3,000 hits, hit 300 homers and have a 300 lifetime avg…..tough to compare era’s though…..

I know Steve Carlton won the award a few times in the NL so I'll go with Carlton/Willie Hernandez, Carlton/Vida Blue, Carlton/Wilbur Wood.

Also I'm pretty sure Fernando Valenzuela won the strike year of 1981 but I can't think of the random lefty that might have won it that year in the AL.

BTW the clue is right there. It should be as easy as pulling the string on a gas powered lawn mower (as you round the bases with the correct answer)

Yeah I'm not sure Cliff Lee won one either. I'm just trying to think of lefties who might have won.

I'd give it a little more time. Someone might come thru with the answer.

I know Carlton won more but I'm assuming none of them qualify as "recently".

Oh wait, is the Big Unit recent enough? He had to have won a Cy Young but I'm not sure which league. Can't think of who to pair him with yet though
