Who has the most career home runs for someone who never led the league in any one year?

Could be the same guy but I bet someone has more

Palmeiro is #13 all time, and the top 12 are all beasts. The only who I thought has a chance for this all did it at least once (McGwire, Killebrew, Robinson, Aaron)

McGwire held the single season record for a few years. Of course he “led the league”.

Some times I impress even myself with my “intelligence”…

I thought Palmeiro too, and I just looked up his Fangraphs page, and it’s pretty wild that he had a wRC+ over 100 for every season except his first one, where he had 78 PAs with a 91 wRC+. He also only had three seasons beyond that with a wRC+ below 110, and it was 130 for his entire career.

Maybe one of the dumbest statements ever said by a professional athlete, and it was said so emphatically. I still want to believe him to this day but that’s put the doubt in my mind.
