CLE has been down a long time, a real long time, but their history did not go to BAL...thus the name Ravens...but they have been more successful as the Ravens obviously. The fans are some of the best in the game.

I think the problem in CLE has been bad drafting @ the QB position.
In the last 10 years I would guess they've had 7 or 8 different starting QBs...no stability at the most important position on the field.

Since coming back into the league in 1999, they've had 14 different starting QB's.

That's not counting the HC's, GM's and owners.

Any time you change any ONE of those positions, you change the direction of the franchise or team.

If they don't take a QB at #4, I don't know what the fans will do. I will feel so bad for them.

They have had the fans forever. The Dog Pound have been the best fans of any team....until they moved to Baltimore. I know the hiring of Lombardi was a dumb move....I blame all of this on the owner.

But will it help? They take a QB with their #1 pick so often and it never works because no one ever gives the guy a chance.

How will it be different this time?

Hopefully the new regime will get behind their guy, and commit to him. Like the Colts did with Peyton. Peyton's first season: 26 TDs, 31 turnovers. You just have to know that you have a talented guy, and stick with him. That's what the Colts did. That's what the Browns need to do with whoever they get. Tailor the offense for their guy, and let it rip. Don't hold anything back. That's the way I think everyone should be when they get a new QB. Get behind him, and commit. Don't lose trust because of one bad season. Now 2 or 3 in a row? Then there is reason to look elsewhere. But if I'm running the team, my guy gets at least 3 full seasons to improve. Unless if he's just downright horrible and regresses as a player, or isn't who we thought he was.

The Browns have a lot of good pieces. Its not too late. Get that QB and develop together as a team. They'll be in the playoffs in a few years.

You're not the only one that asked this question.

A franchise could have been given to two other cities that would have been better choices...San Antonio or Las Vegas.

Neither one has an NFL team and both are large enough to support one.

Cleveland was granted a team because Art Modell screwed them over.

Fan support isn't the problem in Cleveland. And I dont think either of those cities can support a team any better than the fanbase there, especially Vegas.

Really? You don't think seats will constantly be sold out with the tourist attraction that is Vegas?

The only hold up there that I can see is that the NFL might be worried about a gambling problem.

I think San Antonio could support a team. They seemed to do pretty well with a USFL team and they were supposed to be the place the Saints were going to go if the owners of that franchise decided to leave NO after Katrina.

No NFL club for a long ways.

No NFL club for a long ways.

Both of them could support a team but not be loyal the way they are in Cleveland.

SA may match their attendance but it would take years to build a following as strong as Cleveland. What happens if they suck for 15 years like Cleveland and dont even have the history to fall back on? The city may embrace them at first with bandwagoners but that would wear thin. Yeah, the Browns perpetually suck, but they're still quite viable compared to other teams.

Vegas is a transient town where a lot of locals already have teams and are not really emotionally invested in the town enough to abandon their loyalties. Perhaps it would be a tourist attraction if they had a SB contender year in-year out and could fill seats the way the Heat do with corporate money and as sideshow. But you also have to remember that Vegas is not the tourist hub that it once was. Not that they are suffering or anything but their tourist numbers have gone down in recent years.

And I was just in Vegas in December, it was cold and empty. November through February are the months where Vegas tourism are below their average. And many of the vistors that they get for December and January are all there over the same few days, New Years Eve.

The Browns.:L Why did they bring that team back? No real history...that went with the Ravens. The owner is a total retard. This is what happens when the NFL pushes for teams for expansion.Hello England and LA .!!!!!:yahoo:

No real history? So were judging cause of the lack of "Super Bowl trophies" ? Cause before that trophy there was a title game and the Browns own a few...

This BS that this city doesn't deserve a team, please, yes the owner is a frickn idiot, and yes it's great that he got rid of Banner, ( Andy Reid's former sandwich getter in Philly) then there is the GM they hired from the NFL Network, ( you would think after hearing Sapp whine about Strahan not making the hall in the first year) the owner would have realized there is only idots allowed on that network...

Bottomline is the Browns belong in Cleveland, and yes there owner is a idiot that has no clue to run an NFL team, there only real true QB in team history is shit faced every week on TV whining about the lack of talent in the front office, but there fans are still die hard and still believe that someday there gonna win it all, ( and lets face it if Seattle can win it anyone can),

Saying the Browns should be relocated is an understatement, all major sports teams should be relocated from that dumpster fire. Heck even hometown hero LeBron James wanted out.

I have seen Manziel make all the throws. He has accuracy.

It is either bust or great. He will either be a huge bust or a very good QB IMO

He does have all the confidence in the world, so there's that :laugh3:

actually, from an outsiders' perspective, cleveland has WAY better football fans than most teams. and i've been many places in this country and there are gloomier places to live.

Read my post again. I was commenting on the EXPANSION Browns and not the original team that left. I do agree that the Browns have some of the best fans....I was shocked when they left for Baltimore.

Them leaving had nothing to do with the fans, it was Art Modell.

According to Browns fans....Art was pissed when they started playing baseball in another stadium. See, Art got part of the concessions money from all food and drink sold where the Browns play in both baseball AND football games.

When baseball went to a different park, he was making less money.

He demanded a new stadium and by the time the city got around to OK'ing a new one, he'd already agreed to move to Baltimore.
