I don't know IMO he's got bust written all over him.

Has a stronger arm than RW3, could be just as fast as Kaep/Cam. I think he will be just fine. It's a new era of QB's coming in, and Johnny fits that mold. I think he's gonna be successful, but as you know, since i've made it clear on these boards, i'm a biased JF fan. Nothing will really convince me he will be a bust.

Agree. What Cleveland (and basically any team drafting that high in the first round) really needs is a leader. They desperately need a Russel Wilson type. When I compare him and JFF, they are about as polar opposite as you can get.

He has a tendency to just thrown the ball willy nilly when pressured, NFL teams are gonna clamp down on edge and force him to hold the pocket where he will fail. All that running around shit is cute in college but does not always work in the NFL.

Also not sure about his arm strength either..He pretty much throws the ball up for grabs and hopes his receivers make a play, that will fail you in the NFL.

From what I can tell, most of his game and success in college can be attributed to being more athletic than most everyone else on the field. He does have an accurate arm, but you're right he doesn't have the strongest arm.

I don't know. Drafting QBs is such a crapshoot. I think the #1 thing that scares me off the JFF bandwagon is is immaturity. He doesn't strike me as a work ethic guy, nor as someone who will keep their cool under pressure. Recipe for disaster in the NFL IMO.

I dont watch College football at all. So im not sure how you mean this, but I would have to disagree. Throwing into tight coverage and trusting your WR to make a play on the ball is something NFL QBs have to do to have success.

Im not just saying it like everybody says it. I actually did laugh out loud when I heard that Lombardi and Banner got the boot. It was a mistake to hire Lombardi in the first place cause that dude is terrible. I guess firing him now will save you a couple years of misery.

The key to success in really any venture is stability and consistency. The key is stability and consistency on the field and off of it. This is what the Browns lack.
They actually have some talent on that team. I'm not sure if Horton is still with the team but he should be. Good coordinator. In a year or two, if they are a 500. team id say they are on track. I think with good leadership they should be a good team in a short amount of time. I am a little skeptical of the new Head Coach though. Dont know why I just dont get a winner vibe from him. Not rooting against him just how I feel.
For some reason I like to root for Cleveland. The underdog I guess.

This very well could be the case, but we don't know.

The big knocks on him are that he may be often injured to due is lack of heftiness, (that is, he's tall but can he take the big hits over and over like Big Ben?) and that he may...MAY....lack maturity given what happened with his taking money for autographs. The incident in and of itself is no big deal, it's more indicative of making the wrong choice when you KNOW the spot light is on you and putting your team in that position.

And when he goes to make that big play, and it's not there, he forces it. Yes, he can grow out of that and become a more mature QB - if he lasts long enough.

I'd stay away from him just because he won the Heismann and there seems to be something of a curse on that. Guys go bust.

I think, were I the person making this pick, I'd go with Bridgewater. He's not the big play guy that Manzeil is, but he's more stable.

It appears that the best the Browns can hope for is a change in ownership.

Worked for Seattle.

One of the most talented defenses in football, just going to waste :L I feel bad for those guys. If I was them, I would bolt the first chance I get. Its not fair to them to have to play for a crap organization that has different people running it every year. But I admire them for playing so hard even knowing that they are going nowhere. I can't imagine what their locker room is like. I know that if I was them, I would be wanting to win, and would be extremely frustrated.

Its like working a dead end job. Yeah, you're making enough money, but nothing else. Its like emptiness. You want something more, but you can't get to it. If anybody ever deserved to win a Super bowl, its those guys. And the fans. Good god, I know how you feel. The Dolphins do the same crap to me. But at least we had hope in Marino. And now we have hope with Tannehill.

But yeah, no sports city has ever been through more than Cleveland. Its like they get their heart ripped out all the time. Had the most talented basketball player to ever play, and he walks out on them. The Indians are probably their best franchise :L How do you guys not go mad? The only good product they get to watch is Ohio State football.

Their current owner just bought the team 16 months ago. He doesn't seem to be doing any better and i doubt he will sell for quite a while.

NFL QBs do not throw Willy Nilly into coverage not sure where you got that. They may at times take a calculated risk but most prefer to throw it away vs risking an INT.

I would'nt say that 6 ft is tall for a QB. Only 2 guys making it,being Brees and Wilson

He's not AS tall as some of the others, but when people have questions about his size they're not talking about his height, they're talking about his overall build - and yeah, it's a question one needs to ask.

Let's put it this way, he's not short enough for that to be a problem.

Getting rid of Lombardi is a good move. Hiring him in the first place was the mistake.
I know its fun to trash Lombardi but I dont think he was the problem with the team.

1) The Trent Richardson trade was an amazing accomplishment
2) Their defense wildly underachieved so I kinda get why the Browns fired their coach.
3) Hoyer actually looked like a serviceable QB

Lombardi does have a bad track record of drafting but you can't minority report him on that one.

I didnt say that.
You said, he throws it up for grabs and hopes his receiver makes a play. This sounds to me a little like nit picking to me. Minimizing his success throwing the football.
As we all have heard it said, the NFL has tighter windows to throw in, so in my opinion, a QB that trusts his receivers to make a play on the ball is an important attribute. Of course this is risky and only the best know to do it right, but if he can adjust to NFL speed, then this is only a good thing. If he doesnt adjust then I agree with you that it would be a disaster.

All I know of Manziel is the off the field stuff everybody has heard. A lot of that criticism doesnt seem fare so I am interested to see how he will fare in the NFL.

The Browns.:L Why did they bring that team back? No real history...that went with the Ravens. The owner is a total retard. This is what happens when the NFL pushes for teams for expansion.Hello England and LA .!!!!!:yahoo:

CLE has been down a long time, a real long time, but their history did not go to BAL...thus the name Ravens...but they have been more successful as the Ravens obviously. The fans are some of the best in the game.

I think the problem in CLE has been bad drafting @ the QB position.
In the last 10 years I would guess they've had 7 or 8 different starting QBs...no stability at the most important position on the field.

You're not the only one that asked this question.

A franchise could have been given to two other cities that would have been better choices...San Antonio or Las Vegas.

Neither one has an NFL team and both are large enough to support one.

Cleveland was granted a team because Art Modell screwed them over.
