watch the ref constantly pull on him and what you call an elbow is an opposite result from getting pulled on

there isnt any throwing elbows

He's not grabbing him anywhere near his arms though. I don't think you can make a guy's arm move that distinctly and deliberately by grabbing on his chest.

I have no idea how every holding call doesn't result in an elbow or high stick retaliation call. It is truly mind bottling. No one can help themself.

pulling and grabbing at that position can.....plus the ref is pulling him up high from the middle of the jersey

As someone who's grabbed many a jersey over the years at many levels of hockey, I'm still going to disagree.

Also, he's got both hands on him in similar places and in similar positions, pretty much symmetrical. Why doesn't his left arm do the same thing?

I agree it looks like Carcillo was trying to get away and ended up elbowing the linesman. That being said that is the linesman job. The LM amd refs keep the peace and are suppose to maintain order so Carcillo has no leg to stand on and will be suspended.

Oh I don't disagree that his intent was to get away, not to clobber the ref. But like you said, the way that he tried to do it was still way over the line.
