I think the Wild Card will be tough because they'll be mixing it up with the Cardinals, Pirates and Dodgers, all of which I think are better teams.

I'm not ready to write their playoff hopes off yet, but I think their best bet is to try to run down the Nationals to take the division, but that won't be easy either. The Nats' pitching/defense has been on par with the Mets and they've scored about 30% more runs.

There's still a ton of baseball left, but if I had to bet, I'd probably bet no October ball in Flushing this year.

Rockies designated SS Jose Reyes for assignment.

Reyes finished up his 20-day rehab assignment on Wednesday and the Rockies either had to add him to their 25-man roster or give him the heave-ho. He has served out his domestic violence suspension, but Colorado is obviously content with Trevor Story at shortstop. Reyes, 33, is still owed more than $44 million. He'll likely pass through waivers unclaimed and become a free agen
