Moffitt to the Browns for a DE

I did not see this coming. The Seahawks traded John Moffitt to the Browns for defensive end Brian Sanford. I don't know anything about Sanford, but this trade signals to me that the Hawks must be happy with the depth they have on the offensive line to trade Moffitt. He may not have been starting material, but he did provide depth for us. Interesting move. I wonder what it says about how they think the D-line is shaping up if they're making this move now?

I was thinking something similair. At some point it should become a concern that Avril still isnt on the field and I think Clemons is still a long shot for the opener. We know Irvin is gone the 1st 4 games so depth has to be concern without those 3.
On the flip side I think Moffitt was going to have a tough time making the team anyway. Sweezy is looking like the RG and if healthy Carpenter will be the LG with Mcquistin as a better backup option.

man with the way mayowa has been playing I would have figured he would be more of an opportunity. I guess also with james carpenter on the roster moffit would only be pushed down the depth chart. It would have been nice to get a draft pick as well in the trade

It sounds more like a move to clear out a roster spot at Oline and the 53 more than anything else. Not sure if Sanford even makes the team. Guess we'll see what comes of this by end of preseason.

I think Moyawa still has a solid chance at making this team or practice squad.

I don't think Moffit was making the roster so why not get a guy in here to compete and see if he can depth the defensive line.
