Other than drafting 24 players, are there any other roster requirements? ie X # of SP, RP?

Okay so here we go.

Players...
All players who are in the HOF whos career began prior to 1933 will cost $25
All players who are not in the HOF whos career began prior to 1933 are NOT ELIGIBLE
Players whos career began between 1933 - 2000 will cost $1 for every all star game appearance
Players whos career began between 1933 - 2000 who are in the HOF will cost an addition $5
Players whos career began between 2001 - 2016 are not eligible
Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens & Alex Rodriguez will cost $25
George Herman Ruth will cost $40

The Salary Cap is $200

You will draft 24 players.

I do have some minor problems with this draft setup...

1. Why is Babe 40?? that is going to be 10 dollars more than the Next highest player... that is a little bit insane.... if you want to say no Babe, then just say no babe...

2. Can there be SOME assumption towards HOF, like for example, if you make an all star game 10 or more times, then you are automatically a HOFer... because even with setting up that no players after 2001 are eligible, there are still many HOF balloters available in this draft...

I don't like adding the $5 for HOF between 1933-2000.

And what do you suggest to make Babe $50. 1/4 of the cap? Just bc you have him it isn't guaranteed a win. An extra $10 more than any player is a good amount. It can get you 1-3 players, maybe more---at least one HOF player.

I was saying Babe was too high...

Babes biggest value bump comes from his pitching.

He is 4th all time when you take away his pitching.

Not really... you sound like a WAR guy... and that's fine... But you have to remember WAR gives a huge advantage to longevity...

I'm talking about per war he is ranked 4th. I wouldn't rank him 4th.

But 20 WAR is two free MVP caliber seasons.

I don't view Babe the same I'd view Jordan.

Babe didn't face 90 MPH fastballs or have to travel ~30k miles in a season to play games.

Different eras are all so different... I don't think anyone really knows how to compare them... ADJUSTED stats surely don't do it...

I guess the point I'm trying to express Is. Ruth was great, but he is not that far ahead of the rest of the top 5.

There wasn't a surplus of guys like nowadays that could hit 95 mph consistently but guys still threw hard. Walter and Bob Feller could hit 103-105 on the gun. But even taking that away, his numbers were through the roof----supernatural.

Lebron is closer to MJ than any player is to Babe imo

Anything to support that Walter and Feller threw that hard? Interesting

I mean I have links, but it's the internet. Actually two of the hardest throwers of all-time. With lack of radar guns and accuracy hard to compare but either way they were hard throwers. Walter was pure dominance though, Feller another great.

The 10 most powerful pitchers in baseball history

1. Walter Johnson

"He throws so fast you can't see 'em," said the scout who discovered Walter Johnson in 1907, "and he knows where he is throwing, because if he didn't there would be dead bodies strewn all over Idaho." Pitching in a time before lighted ballparks and the routine introduction of fresh baseballs, Johnson had more working to his advantage than just a blazing fastball delivered with deceptive ease from a sidearm angle. In a 21-year career spent entirely with the Washington Senators from 1907-1927, he won 417 games, pitched to a 2.17 ERA and struck out 3,509 hitters, a mark which stood as the record until it was broken by Nolan Ryan in 1983. Even after adjusting for era, his overall numbers give him a reasonable case as the best pitcher ever. Exactly how fast Johnson threw is unknowable, but in 1914, his fastball was measured against a speeding motorcycle and estimated at 97 mph. -- Jay Jaffe

2. Bob Feller

We'll never know exactly how fast Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Feller could throw, given the scarcity of radar guns back when he played, but it wasn't for lack of trying. About the only reliable reading for Rapid Robert, a 266-game winner over 18 seasons that were interrupted by World War II, came in 1946, when army equipment clocked him at 98.6 mph; that measured the speed as the ball crossed home plate rather than as it left his hand, so one computation had Feller at 107.9 mph (though it was probably in the 101-to-102 range). In a separate stunt his pitch beat a speeding 86-mile-per-hour motorcycle in a race and, when accounting for the motorcycle's headstart and losing margin, Feller was credited with throwing 104. Most important was his success on the mound, aptly described by this summation from Ted Williams, "[Feller was] the fastest and best pitcher I ever saw during my career." -- Joe Lemire

They have done research over the years that can back those claims, that's all they had to test it at the time. It's just like old timers in football and the 40 yard dash.

I would definitely agree with you that we overvalue Ruth... But he is still the best player who ever lived... The by how much, I have no clue...
