Who the hell cares if Baseball Players take steroids. They are only hurting themselves and it will just bring in more fans to watch games live. More fans equals more MONEY and isn't that all MLB cares about anyways. If players want to take shit let them, but make them sign a document at the begining of the season. Players should have a choice and except whatever happens.

I take exception to the diction here, but I accept the point made.

I think it needs to universal, either way. If they are allowed, then basically, you are requiring them. Only the SUPER-gifted athlete would be able to compete in a league where 80%+ are using, and then, they would only be average, or slightly above average.

In a game where approx. 60% (pretty decent guess, but still a guess) of the game was using, Bonds was elite, but not one of the SUPER-elite. Once he supposedly began taking, no one else in the history of the game could compete.

I am not anti-PEDs, per se. But I do want a legit discussion and ruling, then I want everyone to abide by whatever ruling is given. Perfect-world, I know.

This is the statement that I think would change the landscape of the game forever. To survive in MLB you would have to use them to stay on a level playing field. But, that also means you would have to use them just to try and be recurited for a tryout. Again the level playing field. My fear would be that you would force the use of steroids into the college level and possibly high school as well. You could ban them at that level but the temptation for a player would be overwhelming. It may even be more of an issue for gifted players in college. You're good but you will need an edge to compete at the next level.

Bingo. Excellent post. Many people are so quick to blame Selig and the owners, like the players and the union are the ones wearing the white hat. What crap.

The league is not perfect, and it never will be. But that's OK. Big picture, it's pretty damn good, or else we wouldn't be on here half our lives blogging about it.

Selig's fault, my ass. All in all, he has done an EXCELLENT job, and if you don't see that, then it's because you have another agenda, and it's not a good one.

I would not say he has done an "excellent job" but he has certainly done a decent one. The union is too powerful and there really imo isn't much Selig can do to stop it.
