I didn't know Hughie Jennings honestly...Ross Barnes I heard the name but just bc as everyone already know...he used to live next door. But before I started doing these drafts I didn't have a great appreciation for a lot of older players but really I just didn't know much about them. These drafts really opened up my knowledge but Bill Russell is still an overrated POS.

To be clear, I have no illusions about how others will see my team, I am drafting very differently (as has been noted) and am enjoying this draft probably more than any other I've done. I actually enjoy people saying they haven't heard of a player, and maybe they'll learn about the guy. I'm actually thinking my team will be better than expected when I started, but it's understandable that people think the team is terrible.

nope, Stoke has taught me the importance of player/managers, got me one of those in George Sisler now. Unlike Stoke's, my guy actually lead the league in HR, SB and average instead of HBP.
Sisler was one of them fancy, educated ball players.

Like Curtis the robot and my boy, Big Bad Brad....

Question for the deadball era fans...how do you think those stats translate to today?

Equally because if they played in today’s game I figure in they would have the same training, meds, weight lifting as the modern era does. Of course today’s era is stronger because of the things I’ve mentioned that the dead ball era didn’t have the luxury of having. Shouldn’t fault them because of it.

Yeah, everyone had to deal with the same issues back then, so it evened the playing field. It's not like the steroid era where some of the guys were juicing and some of them weren't. I'm not sure how the actual numbers would translate, but the league leaders would still be league leaders and such.

When I said meds I didn’t mean steroids but actual nutrition pills, supplements, things that help the body grow and heal faster. The stuff that’s legal.

I was actually agreeing with you and piggybacking. I guess I should have quoted Mookie's question rather than your answer.

Deadball era players have been drafted consistently throughout the draft. Where is the lack of respect? We all obviously have different opinions

How many by the new fellas?
