MLB and NFL tv graphics

Looking at old footage from NFL and MLB, why are the graphics so much worse now than back in the 1980's???
Back in the day, on baseball you had balls and strikes and outs in huge type at the bottom of the screen.
Same with the nfl, huge graphics at bottom. Now, the TVs are bigger and you can't read the score and what down it is, they put it in a small box in the corner. Anybody know what I'm talking about?
