here is some positivity for you smitty -- the last 9 starts Peavy has made against Detroit, he is 2-4 with an ERA right around 7.00.

i'm thinking today's game is going to be the one where we actually see some runs scored. then again -- neither team seems to be able to hit the ball consistently against the other's pitching, so it could be a 1-0 game again. LOL

For the first time in I don't know how long, Im thinking the Over(assuming its 7.5) is the safer bet. Peavys numbers are much worse than expected. There was one clunker in there that I remember, but I never would have anticipated an ERA like that. Especially for a guy who was part of the best pitching duo in the division coming into the season. The record makes sense, the White Sox seem to think the championship is held in Williamsport PA. Building up some positivity, and we still have 10n.a.half hours to go(or something like that). I like it Mike.

When 6'8" Doug Fister takes the mound tonight, he'll be the tallest right hander to start an ALCS game, since Doug Fister, last year. (When he started game one last season, he was the tallest since Doug Fister in 2011). He's getting Iggy behind him for all the easy grounders, :hope:

The last 3 years Peavy has faced the Tigers his ERA per season is (this is going off memory from looking it up last night, so it may not be 100% accurate)

5.16 (1 start)
5.64 (6 starts)
9.00 (2 starts)

I suppose I should feel positive, but I only feel lucky. Detroit should have a 3-0 lead in this series.

Last night wasnt luck, but Miggy and Prince BOTH striking out with two on in the eigth had to be a relief for you guys. At worst the series, to me, should be 2-1 Tigs. But its not. What frustrated me the most about yesterday was Leyland mumbling pregame about how the series was 1-1 and it that's exactly how it should be... Ugh. It's been a great series though. Should stay that way. Gonna be a cool damp one tonight it seems....

Yeah there was nothing lucky about last night's win. Boston might have caught a break game 2 due to the way Leyland butchered the last 2 innings. But last night they just couldn't hit Boston pitching when they had to... and never even really came close to hitting it when they had to.

Well, I did say in an earlier post, I'm glad the Tigers offense is struggling... Cabrera does not look anywhere near 100%... Before the series, some one sugested moving Jackson down - and I thought no way, not the time.... Well, I think it might be time, and I'm glad Leyland is thinking about it...

Austin Jackson is 1 for 13 in the ALCS. With a walk in the eighth inning, Jackson reached base for the first time in 10 plate appearances. With Jackson going 3 for 30 overall in the postseason, Leyland said he might consider a change.
"The only thing you could think about would be possibly play [Don Kelly] in center field," Leyland said. "I would think that would be the only move you could think about. Thought about that one time in the series.
"But I'm not really sure that's the answer. I'll have to think about that one, sleep on it tonight."

I'm about as big of Don Kelly fan as there is, but..... Taking out the teams best defensive player (people could say that's Iggy, he did that yesterday) for an inferior player doesn't make sense to me. This isnt a random Sunday in May! (Donnie often starts on Sundays, like the last time I went to a Sox-Tigers matchup) Hit AJ ninth, leave him in to man one of the biggest centerfields in baseball. (Kelly, IMO, is possibly the tigers second best outfielder, but he's no stud at the plate either, draws walks though, which is nice). If DK is in right, batting wherever,(Leaving Dirks or Jhonny in left) that's cool, Torii has struggled his fair share and is not the defensive player he once was by any means. Still has a nice arm, misplays balls though. I fear Jackson pinch running, as he's an awful baserunner. Speed often allows him to be confused as better than he actually is. Big game for Jimmy to not fuck up in four hours.

Yeah they took "the area" call a bit too far there, especially considering the slight bobble which threw off the timing. No harm/no foul though.
