Minor vs Verlander

If you owned Verlander in a points league, would you deal him for Mike Minor?

i guess this all depends on your thoughts about verlander...

do u have faith that he could get back to elite?? if not then i would take minor, solely because of NL and that division being so offensively inept...

Well, I don't think he'll return to elite, but I don't think he's as bad as his last two starts. Minor was awfully close to him last year anyway, but I want to make sure there's nothing to worry about with Minor, health-wise.

Anyone else?

I take Minor, and I don't think it is close. Verlander is far from done, but also far from elite.

Minor for me too.
Minor is so under appreciated... I can't give him away in one league where pitching is overvalued. I don't think he'll ever join the top tier (or 2) of SP, but a good top 25-30 arm I'd say. Verlander, as much as it pains me to say, may not be top 50-60 anymore.

Same league, someone put Price on the block. I put up Verlander for him, but wanted to get your thoughts on that too. Maybe I should just take Minor. Price has been having a few problems himself with velocity... K's are all time high though, so just his high BABIP seems to be killing him.

I've been offered Samardzija and Heyward... for ...Verlander and Eaton.

Normally, I'd reject this one immediately, as I just have nothing for Heyward. Just wondering if that's just me or not... forget the "hype" surrounding Heyward, is Eaton that much of an upgrade?

I would be really tempted there. Depends on your situation, but if you need to take a chance, Lee is better than anybody you have menstioned previously.

Obviously the injury risk is real though.

BTW, I don't like either Heyward or Samardzija that much, but I think I would still strongly consider it. Most would tell you Heyward is better than Eaton (close) and Samardzija has been great.

I have Kershaw, Wainwright, Scherzer with Verlander (and three streamers...for five spots per week)

Honestly, with that pitching staff, you just need somebody solid who won't mess up your ratios. Verlander is not that guy.

Since you don't like Heyward, I would take either one of the Price or Minor deals and call it a day. You don't need Verlander to be an ace, you need an SP4 to be good. Verlander is too risky at this point.

Lee's update today wasn't appealing, so I rejected that one.

Flip flopped between Minor and Shark for a while, and it really is a wash and I don't like Minor's upcoming schedule after Seattle (who are coming around to lefties lately) and I'm anticipating a Shark trade (not a lock to be better off, but can't get much worse)... so then I took an unbiased look at the hitters and asked myself what the hell Adam Eaton has done to warrant status over Heyward? And couldn't answer, and noticed part of the reason I hated Minor's schedule is an upcoming trip to Colorado next week is dandy for J-Hey, so I accepted the deal, and now am hoping he lights it on fire as he did for a short while around this time last year.

Thanks for the help T, I just needed reassurance that dealing Verlander was in my best interest.
