Anybody remember the Giants' 2nd round pick of the 2017 draft - Jacob Gonzalez? He recently got demoted from Eugene, where he was slashing .174/.252/.250 in 92 at-bats, to the ACL Giants Black team. He's doing well there in 5 games so far. However, he has yet to put up even decent numbers in a full season league yet. He just turned 23, so he still has a bit of time, but he needs to start hitting soon to even make it to AA.

I saw that. Didn’t Bailey also get demoted from Eugene to the complex in Scottsdale, before recently being promoted to SJ?

I hope he’s not a bust.

Yes, but the difference, to me, is that this is Bailey's first year of professional baseball. Sure, he was a 1st round pick last year but it is unusual for even 1st round picks to go straight to high A ball. Hopefully, Bailey gets it together in San Jose.

But that June…

I THINK that you can only get to the majors THIS YEAR by going through AAA, so this probably signals his imminent cuppo
I didn't understand the AA assignment to begin the season. Maybe they wanted to make sure he worked through adversity as that is virtually guaranteed for a hitter in AA. I suspect he'll kill AAA pitching.

Looks like we have the first international signee for the new signing period. Where's @SFGRTB when you need him to get excited?

More international free agents signed. We've got another Williamson in the outfield.

No idea who any of these kids are. Any of them on top 10 lists?

Good question. I don't have a subscription to Baseball America and I'm not sure who else projects these lists. A quick search didn't yield anything except for prospects who've already signed in previous signing periods.

I wish the Giants would give Patrick Ruotolo a chance at AAA. Sure, trying to catch lightning in a bottle on aging pitchers is fun, but so is giving guys who do nothing but produce in the minors a chance too.
From MLB Trade Rumors:
The Giants signed right-hander Logan Ondrusek to a minor league contract over the weekend. He’s been assigned to Triple-A Sacramento, where he made his first appearance on Saturday. Ondrusek made 288 MLB relief appearances between 2010 and 2016, the bulk of that time coming with the Reds. The 36-year-old hasn’t appeared in the majors in five years, but he’s worked his way back to affiliated ball after beginning the year well with the Leones de Yucatán of the Mexican League. Now working as a starting pitcher, Ondrusek pitched to a 2.38 ERA with an incredible 50:3 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 45 1/3 innings in Mexico this season.

Brebbia back in Sac. Open roster spot. I'm guessing Moronta, but it could be Longo.
