i'm too lazy to read this thread as i don't comment while watching.

did anyone saying anything about Foster starting? Seems like an odd call this late in the season, wouldn't he have been basically guaranteed a Medical Redshirt or had he already used one?
Can't get a medical unless you miss two years to injury.

Yep. That's why you'll see a lot of RS freshmen get minor surgeries. That way if they miss another season they can apply for a medical and it's documented.

Here is where the Minnesota linebacker is throwing two punches, sure he can say he was going for the ball.

BTW, that is the linebacker that was suspended for the first half because of a personal foul in the previous game.

Maybe trying to punch the ball out. Kind of unorthodox, either way he didn't accompishment anything.

the funny thing to me, is that in the NFL there is actually a rule that makes it illegal to punch the ball (I don't think they ever inforce it though as guys do it all the time):
A player may not bat or punch:

(a) A loose ball (in field of play) toward his opponent’s goal line or in any direction in either end zone.

(b) A ball in player possession.

The closest NCAA rule I could fine was this:
Striking Fouls and Tripping ARTICLE 2. a. No person subject to the rules shall strike an opponent with the knee; strike an opponent’s helmet (including the face mask), neck, face or any other part of the body with an extended forearm, elbow, locked hands, palm, fist, or the heel, back or side of the open hand; or gouge an opponent (A.R. 9-1-2-I).

a swing like that definitely seems to fall into this rule even if he was going for the football, especially if he misses and makes contact with something else.

If he was trying to punch the ball out then he mistook someone's neck for the ball.

It was a very questionable targeting call

I had a great time in Nebraska

Yeah that does appear to be a questionable targeting call. He looked like he tried to lower his head away from the offensive player's head as he was making the tackle.

Apparently you can't tackle guys that go over the middle. Just do crossing routes
