This draft is hard

The talent pool has been dwindling ever since no steroids... makes the middle to late rounds kind of pointless, because there are so many people with similar value...

I have reasons I think that, just keeping quiet until after the MBBRL draft.

I am going to have a similar approach for MBBRL as I am using here... Only difference is that I will go early on closers... and might get one starter before round 10...

I have really never understood why people go after closers, it's one stat, ive always thought its better to just ignore saves and load up on starters.

depends on what closers though... some give you a pretty good advantage in other categories too...

In a normal Roto, you can pick up closers when someone loses their job. In this if you draft a closer that loses his job, you're screwded. Case in point, I had Nathan and Jim Johnson last year.

Like? They pitch what 60 innings a year so their stats aren't changing your overall numbers like you might think.

Chapman, Kimbrel, Holland are the top 3 closers... they all get 90+ SOs and all have a below 2 ERA and around a 1.0 WHIP...

getting an elite Closer pays, especially under the assumption that others own closers too...

If you get all three then good for you it will help you but odds are you are never gonna get all three and getting one of them seriously doesn't help as much as you think.

The only time going no closer can work is if you are the only one doing it, otherwise you need to make sure your ratios are good enough that you can afford losing a category(H2H) or last place in the category(roto)... and if you are going to own closers, the better the rest of their numbers are the more flexible you are with your starting pitching...

In roto, it is almost impossible to win the league with a punted category(especially in 5X5)...

But of course the more categories you have the less important one singular category is..

Which I usually am, there is no right or wrong answer here, I just never understood why people go after closers so early in a draft.

It's not impossible i've done it.

Yes, of course.

Just wondering do you usually play roto or H2H??

H2H, i can understand more to what you are saying... I just think in roto, punting a category is never a good idea(except of course in this where it is more about health)...

Damn Milk, nice picks. I was looking at Kipnis for my next pick and didn't think anybody would gamble on Pedersen for a few more rounds.

Smitty is up.

Yes Chef I did just do that.

Hey, The Dude abides. Nice pick.

I waffled between him and Chris Davis for awhile, then went in another direction, then another. :what:
