Miles already getting work done

He has scrapped 2 of the 3 JC transfers that Doc had coming.............

Working on the 3rd one now, but hasn't been able to contact him.

Meanwhile, we have 2 guys coming out of high school this year that look very promising in Benny Parker (averaged 24.8 points, 6.2 assists and 3.9 steals this season) and Shavon Shields........and Miles has both of them committed and they have both bought in to his goal to compete for a BIG Championship.

Miles has also granted the release of Josiah Moore. Moore was homesick, and Miles felt that it was best for him to be back home in Georgia.

Honestly, the first test I was looking for Miles to pass was the one with these JC transfers. I felt like if he is going to be the guy to take us to the next level, then he needs to part ways with the JC transfers, and focus on building a program of young recruits.

He has passed my first test with flying colors.

they aren't here long enough. doc pretty much relied on foreign players and jucos. miles wants to get recruits from high school and develop them. it's a different approach, and i think it's a good one.

Getting JC transfers is not a bad thing for a program that is not trying to build.

But we are coming from the ground up............I mean we are literally at the bottom of the barrel. We need to start fresh, and build towards being something great 3-4 years from now, rather than trying to be something okay next year.

We are sort of in a different position than most comparable situations

i agree jucos can be good for a program (see lavonte david). but you also have to have the players that stick with the program for 4-5 years. our problem in basketball has been that we have a bunch of jucos and foreign players that are not with the program for 4 years. we've been down this road many times before and it hasn't worked. i would gladly have a few subpar years if it meant we would be a solid basketball team a few years down the road.

We must part ways with JC kids........there is no doubt in my mind on that.

Especially when you're a basketball team, and you're looking for 6 or 7 guys to really gel out there on the court. You can't be shuffling guys in and out all the time.......creating relationships in our case is very important.

Start with Freshmen..........suck for a couple of years........and then get good. That is what I look forward to seeing us do.

he was just standing by the front desk and gave me a "how's it going bud?" which is more than many of the other coaches have said to me...and I've worked there for 8 months
