After playing 25 games, he has 24 goals with 20 assists for 44 points.

Here's hoping he can transition well into the NHL in the near future with the Sabres, and be the player Vanek should have been. The Sabres really need big, physical Centers who can actually scores goals on a regular basis.

I'm excited to see what this kid can do in the NHL.

Who the hell is Josh Currie? He's tearing it up as well with 23 goals and 23 assists in 26 games.

The Sabres got a steal getting him at #12.

That's what I think as well, even though most people right now don't think so.

Just have to wait and see what happens, but I really don't think he'll have a problem cracking the Sabres lineup once the Season actually resumes again.

I wanted the Isles to take him at 4. The thought of having Tavares, Strome & Grigorenko down the middle for the next decade plus was exciting to me. Griffen Reinhart isn't bad though. Good luck to Grigorenko in Buffalo.

Mikhail isn't the only one tearing up the Q of late. Anthony Mantha potted two more goals last nite, which i believe takes him to 27G-19A on the still young season.

I know this because I have been following Val-d'Or and RW Anton Zlobin,(Pens 6th rd. pick), who is a linemate of Mantha's.

If it weren't for the CHL, I wouldn't have SFA related to hockey to entertain myself with.

I wanted the Jackets to take him at #2. even #1 if they managed to get it.

Murray is probably a better pick long term at #2, but when he's about to have surgery to repair something that may have been a problem for two years already combined with Jackets draft luck, it's hard not to be pessimistic.

Looking forward to seeing the kid make the jump.

Yeah, I know that, I did mention Josh Currie ya know.

But none of those other player were drafted by the Sabres, and I'm trying to find something to be optimistic about during the lockout.

One day.....

I was psyched that the Sabres were able to select him. Can't wait to see him in the NHL or whatever pro league we have after this mess is over.

Sorry, wasn't trying to steal your thunder. Any talk on here consisting of relevant hockey, and I tend to get a little excited. I camp out on the CHL site, and the Grigorenko talk got me thinking about the other potentials in the Q.

It seems it it easier to score in the Q however?

The top 20 scoring leaders all have 36 or more points in about 25 games played.

I'd hate to look at the leading goalie in that League.

I think that is a question more in the wheelhouse of guys like Puck, Dash and Julian. They seem to have the pulse of the junior leagues.

In my humble opinion, it's just a lack of commitment to sound defense, that... and the fact that most of the players in the CHL can't buy you a beer in the States, yet. Young kids don't have time for defense  :canada:

I was happy as hell when the Sabres got him in the 12th spot. I didn't think he would be on the board that long. His size alone makes it a big improvement over Roy and he plays with an edge.

IF this lockout ever ends we may find out how good he is.

Historically, the Q has been more of an offensive league. Also, there's a lot less travel time in the Q than in the Dub which means guys are fresher and probably helps pad their point totals.

Nathan MacKinnon of the Mooseheads has scored 14 goals with 5 assists in his last 9 games played.

I guess you're saying there's no East Coast bias then?

 - In MacKinnon's case, he's just damn good. He'd look great in a Flames uniform.
