Because both Schwartz and Mayhew are so deep into job saving mode they are desperately doing anything and everything they can not to look bad. Giving up a draft pick to get a guy that played only a couple of games and did nothing makes Mayhew look pretty damn bad so they gave him every chance to make the team. The guy flat out cant play and now they know it.

If fans and the Ford family really want to get angry they should look at the contract the Lions took on when they acquired him. He was scheduled to make $3.45m next year. You would have to be a brain dead moron of a GM to trade and take on that contract after having spent yet another second round pick on a WR. At no point in his career did Thomas warrent that type of a deal. He was destined to be here for the 2013 season and that's it. We were already basically eliminated from playoff contention when he made the trade. Instead of playing our young guys he traded to get garbage. This is his worst move yet and was simply beyond moronic. If this team isnt in the playoffs then both of them deserve to go.

I did have to come in and check this out...busy on the tigs board....preseason football bores me.....but anyways.......i cant say i didnt see this coming.....i been saying hes a bum......now next.........jason fox......levy...

Just sad the guy couldnt make the lions roster.....outside of CJ, there isnt much at the WR position.......i guess edwards is going to get that 800 yds now. Maybe only 300 rushing tho...
