Vin Scully is a legend, no doubt. My other favorites are Harry Caray, Bob Prince and Harry Kalas.
As far as greatest sports announcer in my book in any sport is Keith Jackson.
I have to admit, I grew up more with Lanny Frattare, so I like him a little better...and he was the guy during the "Family" years, so they were still a major-league club then tooOld gunner... back when the Pirates were still a major-league ball club.
as a buccos fan i miss lanny frattare. between walk, glass, and neveritt, they just BICKER too much.

But I recognize legend status in Prince and the other guys I mentioned.
Yep, larger than life. And I feel it is a disservice to leave Lanny out of that list.Lanny was also more from my time, as well. But my pop is a huge pirate fan, and of course i know all about Bob. There was a time in Pittsburgh sports when the broadcasters were almost larger than life. Cope with the steelers, Prince with the Pirates and Lange with the Pens. I consider myself lucky to have grown up hearing those men do their work.
