He is a good coach but he has some very big flaws in his coaching strategies. I wouldn't want him as a Cavs future HC.

Yeah, the biggest problem is that he is a system coach. If he has players that fit his system, he can win a lot of games. If he doesn't, he'll lose a lot of games.

That's the difference between a coach like D'Antoni and a coach like Pop. Pop adjusts his coaching/system to fit his players. D'Antoni tries to adjust his players to fit his coaching/system.

That, and D'Antoni's system doesn't typically include defense. The Rockets already had some defensive prowess with guys like CP3 and Tucker in place, so that did help balance him out somewhat.

Not sure that is totally true.

At least from the standpoint that his system has changed over the years. And he has at least learned from past mistakes in terms of hiring a solid defensive assistant to help on that end.

The Rockets probably missed their window, but that is more about the Warriors than it is about D'Antoni, IMO.

Yeah, he's at least done that. But he still wants to run the same offensive system regardless of the roster.

Thats really not his biggest problem.

His biggest problem is he is a terrible coach. You can't ignore the defensive end, it just doesn't work. Never has never will

Agree. But he finally learned to hire someone to help with the defense. So, he at least gets credit for that.

But he's never shown that he can adjust his system to his players.
