Mike Babcock: Toronto Maple Leafs Sign Detroit Red Wings Coach to Deal Reportedly Worth $50 Million
Toronto named Babcock as the team's new head coach Wednesday. Babcock, who coached Detroit for 10 seasons, will be paid $6.25 million per season over eight years, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
Toronto was the only team I thought could pull him away because of how huge hockey is there, plus Toronto is a pretty cool city and area which really matters to his wife ... or so I've heard. The word was they were out of the running a couple of weeks ago, though. He's a good guy and a great coach, but that is a lot of money... and so we move on.
