Calgary Flames prospect Sven Baertschi appears to be growing some dislike for Edmonton's young talent already.
"I think the hype came with the Oilers because they have so many first-overall picks," he said. "But sometimes, it doesn't really matter when you get picked. It's about how much you make progress over the next couple years after you get drafted." He went on to say that Edmonton's prospects are "great players" but it doesn't mean that they won't be outperformed by players selected far behind him in the draft down the road. His statement isn't particularly pointed and in many cases that type of situation has happened before, but it does look like he is developing a bit of a chip on his shoulder because of all the hype the young Oilers are creating. That should make for some interesting matches when the bitter provincial rivals lock horns again on the ice. For now, they'll have to settle their differences in the AHL when Baertschi and his Abbotsford Heat play Edmonton's minor-league club, the Oklahoma City Barons, in a two-game set this weekend.
