well, i don't think there is any doubt that most people think the seahawks and saints are the 2 best teams in the NFC right now. it is still november though and it really only matters how everyone plays in january.

Even that is probably over the top. For example, an NFC title game between, say SF and Carolina, isn't out of the question.

Despite the over-the-top thread title, I am really looking forward to the MNF game between Seattle and New Orleans. Definitely a strong chance that one of those two teams represents the NFC in the SB. Also interesting that Seattle, like NO, has played much better at home than on the road, but with Browner and Thurmond both out, the NO passing game figures to present more of a challenge that it otherwise might.

The article also states

• How important is it to be the No. 1 seed in the playoffs?

Since the postseason was expanded to 12 teams in 1990, 46 percent of 1-seeds have reached the Super Bowl

That can also mean more than half the time, the #1 seed does not make the SB.

True that it is certainly no guarantee of success to earn HFA, but it is certainly still a worthy goal.

The thread title and the article the opening post cited are indicative of one thing:

a lack of reading comprehension on the part of the thread opener.

I agree. It goes without saying that Nick Foles will single-handedly win the SB this season.

Yeah, but you're taking the rest of the field vs. one team. It's obviously a huge advantage.

We finally get to see what he looks like against a good defense today. I like the kid.

I hope this happens.

My homerism aside ..... this does seem like the kind of year where a team comes out of nowhere ...... so, why not, right?

Yes but the odds are even less for #2 and #3 etc. 1st seed is under 50% but it still has better odds of making it than any other seed.

Not only that but these two teams are in a different group as far as HFA is concerned compared to most teams.

I believe the last and only time that either the Hawks or the Saints had the top seed they went to the SB. I certainly wouldn't bet against either of them at home in the playoffs.

better be careful, the team that comes out of nowhere might just be a team that has done that a couple times in the last 5 years...NYG
